I personally would keep daily's running as usual on the SAME post on the main board with a link sent to PCL for the sticky - I don't see any problem with this method so why can't we use common sense?

Not every single competition is clear cut or as easy to fit into the definition. There are some that are complicated.

The ClassicFM South Africa one for example, that I have been posting: The poll results seem to imply that it is a regular but do not specify how it should be posted. When it's posted as separate threads it can get missed by people who are just using the regulars, and can also have the tendency to go to Game Over before it has closed which means people miss it. When it is posted as one thread it causes different problems. End date entry people who don't use the 'dailies list' thread will miss all but the last draw. Then those that do use that thread but who do their dailies between 11am and 12pm when the competition is closed will also miss out. Those who do their dailies at 9am on Thursday and 4pm on Friday will also miss out on a competition.

Both methods of posting present problems for people, so common sense can't always help.

Another thing that I am confused about is that there are a lot of comps on the regulars boards that have end dates and require answers and have there own threads

I posted the answers to this comp yesterday in the regulars thread and it received 34 thanks

in the mean time the same comp and answers where posted on the main board and received 240 thanks

the new rules say that regular comps with end dates should be posted on the main board but do not say what you should do if there is an existing thread on the regulars board

I asked a BG to look at the 2 threads so entries wouldn't be duplicated and they where correctly merged (in my opinion) with the main thread now on the regulars board however after saying this I would have much preferred the comp to have remained on the main board but I don't see how this could have been done

there are other comps that have also been posted on the main board and have found there way back into regulars maybe for the same reason?

at the end of the day no one is in it for the "glory" they just want the comp to be seen by the vast majority of compers so that everyone gets the chance to enter

I'm saddened to say that in some instances this still isn't happening :(

so what's the answer I'm not really sure? if comps on regulars with end dates where moved lock stock and barrel to the main board there would be an outcry! but if they remain they will only cause confusion and possibly more duplicated post's with duplicated entries

the 2 boards need to co-exist together and be more interactive and complement each other but nothing I have seen so far makes me think that this will happen any time in the near future

I agree with Crin and if I had realised this was what you meant I certainly wouldn't have voted that way and I suspect many others wouldn't either

the trouble is IF dailies are to be run as one thread which is updated regularly then that needs to apply to ALL dailies including eg the currently runnign classic fm comps...both of which have been posted as individual comps everyday but merged by bgs when they have been spotted and pmed to them by someone.

see these threads as examples of the varying opinions...they have all caused confusion in the past week.

what applies to one must be applied to all....so if the rule is that if prize varies, or url varies, or method of entry varies it doesnt count as a daily (or weekly or monthly) then NONE of them can count as a daily. i know hello is weekly so wouldnt need a new thread each day but again if its a new thread for one comp unless its the exact same prize, url and method of entry then that rule needs to be applied to all comps no matter the frequency of the changes.

which is exactly what was causing the issue before .....SOME comps were being posted and the thread updated regularly while OTHERS were being posted as a new comp every day (or week or month as appropriate) based on what the op wanted to do with them rather than on anything else. this is what led to things being posted on both boards and thus led to dupes which is why those of us who enter regular comps were so unhappy with how things worked.

the compromises suggested way back when was that dailies would be regular (in one thread) and weeklies and monthlies could go on main as new comps thus only the re-enter each week/month comps which did not change url or prize or answer would then be regs. however that was largely ignored in all the im right your wrong and lack of listening no matter how many time si and others repeated ourselves about it or tried to explain WHY it wasnt working on a post where you like and how you like depending whom is posting and what they want done with it.

had the issue not been forced, had glad* been given the time to compose a list of options and ideas form both sides that had been suggested by US (as in everyone on mse not just one group or the other group) then i suspect andrea would have been given a list of possibilities and a poll would have been clearly defined witht he choice of each of those possibilities and thus would then have been much better organised and had a much more satisfying result than what we ended up with because impatience meant it was done in a rush and as we can see andrea/the mse team do not understand the way the comps board works in the way we, the compers do, or the way the bgs do.

    * and the other bgs as im sure she would have discussed with them and ensured they were on board with the list of options before sending, im only using glads name because she was the one who was involved in the discussion form the beginning and she did say frequently she was letting the other bgs know what was going on and what she was doing so i guess the others didnt feel the need to also jump in nor tell her if they disagreed with her listening to us all and trying to sort something.

ive been trying to come up with some way to keep everyone happy with dailies....posting them everyday does not work for anyone except those who enter comps by newly posted threads. if todays argos eg is posted thios morning as E:27/01 then people who enter by end next day, so today are entering E:28/01 miss it. if its posted with end date of E:28 to avoid that then people who enter by E27 today miss it as wont find it until tomorrow. its not soley comps moving to game over early that makes end date compers miss them. i cannot think of anyway other than an updated thread in dailies to highlight daily comps with different prizes/answers/draws everyday but i was repeatedly shot down when i tried repeatedly explaining that in the various discussion (as well as being called various nasty names and such like elsewhere).

Great example found by Amilucky? of the continuing confusion.

As far as I can see this promotion doesn't have an overall end date, although each individual comp within it does. So it is "weekly until further notice" rather than "weekly until MM/YY" therefore it can be a) In the regulars board as E: Weekly because there is no end date or b) posted every week as an individual comp on the main board (with no link to weeklies), but not both. It also can not be on the main board as one thread lasting for longer than a week, as there is no end date.
  • amilucky is right when he says the two boards need to coexist together. thats what the original aim was. however this is not possible when people insists they dont have time to go anywhere other than main so want everything there (with the exception of things they proibanly dont want to enter anyway) and are not prepared to compromise or TRY something else.

all threads with end dates appear to have now been moved out of regs and on to main btw.

two times is also correct, posting and updating one thread does cause other issues...largely for people who "dont have time to check the stickies or the regular subforum". if one comp is not quite started when i come to it via the dailies then i keep it open in a different tab/window and check back in a couple of hours. sometimes that means i have a window with 10 tabs im refrshing every few hours until the comp comes up. others bookmark and check back that way.

this is my own opinion....but i really do not understand why people dont have time to check the stickies for new cops before or after doing all new ones on main board. however the loudest people were adamant everything had to go on main becuase they cant check regs and things should be linked in the stickies for those of us who use them. which works on the whole unless comps are posted individually every day. the description of regs always said it was for those comps that would get lost among the enter once only comps on main. which to me says the only comps that should have been going on main were those that were literally a one time entry and never repeated..which comps with a different prize and thus different end date each day are if they are posted separately but are not if they are posted to one thread and others which CAN be entered more frequently but entering only once still got you an entry to the prize draw didnt get lost quite so badly on main if they were linked in the daily sticky but the way i read things given the description was that they also were regulars. given the discussions and the varying ways of posting any im among the minority who thought that......whcih i knew anyway, whihc is why ALL my fussing before the current discussions was on posts which were not linked to in the appropriate threads that i then found the day before or the day they ended....which yes happend frequently because again people dont have time to use the stickies so didnt bother to notify or didnt want it to be moved form main to regs so didnt notify.

and yes, there were some people who were kind enough to add links to the daily thread when they posted on main, and more who did so when they realised the daily thread existed....so dont think im slating everyone for not doing so. i think maybe i better shut up now lol im not trying to be argumentative or anything, just trying to explain my thoughts.

Apologies if I'm being a bit slow here. My heads a bit fuzzy today.
Where does it say that each daily answer needs a new thread? It says regulars (with an end date) go on the main board AND a regular can have the same or new answers every day couldn't we just get a BG to ask Andrea to say that includes having the same or different prizes each day too? I think that's what we do now most of the time?? Then we're just doing what we always do but there is clarity so we will all be consistent.

And in reply to the posting on both boards AND the sticky, a big NO from me too. I agree with the others who have commented....I think post on main, add a note to the sticky, everyone is happy (maybe except end date compers who don't use the stickies but I can't see a way that they WOULDN'T miss out on dailies if that's how they comp and they comp a day ahead??) and there's one less step.

EDIT: Oh and I think that's a great example from Amilucky? too, exactly the type of comp that used to upset regulars because of the risk of duping and exactly the type of comp that STILL needs to be clearly defined (using the poll results if at all possible)
  • Sorry i know its the wrong place to post but did'nt know where to, so here goes...am i going mad as i can't find the comp i'm looking for its was a purchase req comp with pomigranate juice...if someone could please help i'd be very greatful...tried looking but have not found anything.. Sorry again for wrong place..
  • Maths was never my strong point in school but surely 158 votes out of a total of 370 (42.70%) and 90 votes out of a total of 249 (36.14%) is not a 'majority verdict'. 57.30% of people who voted in the first poll and 63.86% of those in the second, choose options different from those which are now classed as the new 'rules'

I must admit that when this poll was posted, I thought that the 2 highest options were so similar than they'd be easily confused when people were voting...
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2994720

All regular comps stay on main board but posters then post link to those on the regulars board 31.35%

All regular comps with end date stay on main board but posters then post link on the regulars board 42.7%

The only difference being the inclusion of "With end date" for the majority favoured. I don't really think the 2nd highest option can be classed as so different from the highest that it can be defined as "Against."
:o I really don't want to stir things up, but I read this as 74.05% being in favour of what we have now!

oh dear i dont usually put my point my across on the threads but know i feel as though this is upsetting lots of ppl and causing lots of unnecesary upset, i hope it can all be resolved soon and lets get back to the way things should be, lots of happy compers winning and enjoying the threads am not too fussed at wat happens and i understand that not everyone will be happy, but whatever happens we all have to get along and stop all the upset and bickering it aint nice and right now isnt a very nice place to be either, for most the comping is just a hobby and a chance to escape from it all lets not fall out and take it for wat it is am sure we will get used to the new of comping however long it may take.....

just my opinion i know it aint much but its how i feel :)
