Why. WHy can't I stick to it this time? What's wrong with me? I HAVE to lose weight to try for another baby. The consultant;s told me so. And every day I start off really well, with low carb breakfast and lunch. No problems there. Then I get the sugar craving and I either give in to choc, or I last til I get home and then have chocolate then. Sometimes I manage til really late at night and then I give in. Why am I such a self-saboteur? What can I do, I'm driving myself to drink!
Hi Sarahs - As Focus & Mazzers have said we're all like this sometimes. Have you tried Mercy's chocolate buns? They're VERY chocolatey & if you make a batch of those & have one when you get the craving it may be enough to keep you on the straight & narrow. It's certainly working for me at the moment. Once again I resisted the wonderful cakes at work today even though they were right next to me.
Now if I could just find a substitute for my vodka & Tonics I'd be an :A.0 -
For any newbies that didnt see it, here is a pic of a pizza i made from a quarter of the bread dough.
I'm not showing off honestjust want you to stay focused, and thought lc pizza was a good incentive.
Was like a real pizza.
A bit unevenly cooked, but thats my rubbish fan oven
Also thought i should point out that i have had a very sore tongue ulcer, sore pimples on my face, a huge sore one on my nose as of today and the roof of my mouth is all ulcers (due to all the sweet things i'm convinced)
My book should arrive tomorrow so hopefully a new start.. and not too soon.0 -

Todays food
Coconut oil etc
B - cheese and sausages
L - HM heart casserole on cauli
D - not hungry as I had a scotch egg earlier to keep me going. May have some ham, brie and salad. May not
Glad the choc buns are scoring a hit!
Will spend sunday cooking for following week and the buns are on the cards. Just about demolished all the frozen meals, just one left for tomorrow and I don't know what it isI love surprises :rotfl:
Good to read all, you're a fun bunch to know!
Happy low carbing! It's Friday tomorrow :j

omg are you trying to torment us !!! looks so lush xx
only advice i can offer for cravings is something someone told me when i started lc'ing - kill the cravings with fat - esp in the early days
dont worry about the diary content in the first couple of days so if your craving have some cheese or a a big dollop of extra thick cream maybe a spoon of cream cheese - all those things have a high fat content so in essence so kill the cravings
try it:j MFi3 wannabee :j

Zero, good to see you back!! I still use the recipes you posted a while back, especially the pesto chicken one.
Hey Sweet, glad you're enjoying the pesto chicken! I'd forgotten about it, so I'll add it to my very loose plan for next week. :j
I also forgot to make a list of the things on the 4 day offer @ H&B but it's listed on the website - http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product.asp?sid=9
some good barains if you usually use them. :money:
The giant pork joint was cooked to perfection in my slow cooker - phew! The only problem now is what to do with it all! I'm thinking of chinese tomorrow night. Possibly a marinade / sauce of light soy, sesame oil, garlic & ginger, thickened with arrow root. Nom nom nom *drool*.
Have you all used arrow root? It's FANTASTIC for thickening sauces if you want to avoid flour or cornflour.
Laters dudes :cool:0 -
Zero, arrowroot, heard of it, never used it, thanks for the tip0

Thanks focus. The thing is, I do plan and organise. I plan my meals a week ahead, and buy only that stuff at the supermarket, blah blah, make packed lunches. It just seems like I'm a teeny bit schizophrenic. Diet angel in the morning, diet monster later in the day. And no matter how hard the angel shouts, the monster wins. It isn't always like that but it has been the past few months.
I might have to go back to diet coke to quell the sugar ache, but that's rubbish for you too. And the sugar ache is supposed to go after a few days low carbing, isn't it? Really, it's an appalling drug and it should be classified alongside heroin for its addictiveness!
I think diet coke keeps up the sugar cravings and makes you worse. Try to drink soda water with some lemon or lime in it to give you the sparkle but not the sugar. One nice dessert I have made is to whip up some double cream, put in a teaspoon of sugar free cocoa and once that is whipped fold in couple of defrosted rasperries. Fresh ones don't work as you need them to be soft with high liquid content. The carb content is fairly low but tastes like black forest gateau.0 -
Evening all
I'm in weekend mode a bit early, just finished my second glass of wineThat's it though, no more. Honest.
Also had 2 more low-carb crispbreads with butter & cheese, which is probably just as well, as I think that pic of mazzers' pizza would have sent me scurrying to the kitchen to stuff my face with something naughty!! It does indeed look lush!!
daisy, I think you're right with the eating more fat theory. I've definitely eaten more this time around, in cauli mash & on crispbreads especially. Been having cream & cheese in my omelettes & I think it's all helping to keep me going.
Another thing I would say is go steady with the fruit. I noticed that my 'hungry nose' feeling was after I'd eaten rasps/blues and strawbs/blues. Might just be coincidence, but it's put me off eating fruit for the time being, just in case.0 -
obviously once your cravings are under control - do watch your amounts of dairy and cheese - on atkins i believe its a matchbox size of cheese a day - might be wrong someone pls correct me
as discussed on here in the past too much diary is a known staller but all the plans are a bit different on there guidance
oh and im sneaking a weekend baileys already !!
does anyone have shy's home made lc baileys recipe ??:j MFi3 wannabee :j

Maybe sweets is right and I am inded a nutter?
Yep, I always knew it!!:rotfl:
Just about demolished all the frozen meals, just one left for tomorrow and I don't know what it isI love surprises :rotfl:
Had my last chilli tonight & finished the curry mince off last night, so that's it, no more HM 'ready meals', the freezer is bare!!
As soon as f-f is defrosted I'll be making more supplies, makes my life so much easier to just grab something HM low-carb out of the freezer, especially when I'm making 'ordinary' stuff for hubby & kids, it all gets a bit complicated on the hob in the sweet kitchen sometimes!! :rolleyes:0
