Ooh, a night out in Manchester, sounds rather ... exciting

Aye. And it will be if you clean my house :rotfl:

    Hello all!

Am on between cooking luvli choc cake and cutting up cardboard for bonfire tomorrow. When I say 'bonfire' I mean a 25L steel bucket, more a brazier, hence my need to chop. Can't wait for the celebrations! Got some fireworks today so pretty much all set. Just have to roast some veg tomorrow - already bought it - so kinda getting there :rotfl:

    Gona post recipe

QuicheI’ve not done it - yet

    For the pastry:
    225g ground almonds
    55g butter

    For the filling:
    15g butter
    1 tbsp olive oil
    500g mushrooms,sliced
3 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed
    salt and pepper
    3 eggs, beaten
    4tbsp double cream

Preheat oven to 180 degrees c

Mix the pastry until thoroughly mixed
Press into an 8 inch tin

Make a few holes in the base of the flan all over and bake in the oven for 15 minutes (until set and golden brown). Set aside and turn the oven down to 170 degrees c.

Gently saute the mushrooms and garlic in the butter and olive oil, uncovered, for 10-15 minutes until the mushrooms are tender and any liquid has boiled away. Season and spread over the pastry base.

Whisk together the eggs, cream and a little pepper and pour over the mushrooms. You can top with grated cheese if you want to (or add a bit of grated parmesan to the pastry instead)

Bake for 45 minutes, until set.

You can use any filling you like, just kinda follow the guidelines.

Any especially good ones you make - please do post!

I've also made a change to the choc bun recipe - take note!

The changes are to add cream of tartar to the whites - keep air in better, and to add baking powder. They rise better and are so lovely! Just made some and v impressed.

Ok they do sink a little in middle but really not a prob, just 'ice' with a little melted choc :rotfl:

    Yay! :j

I'm off to do some more, hope you are all well n happy!

    Much love

i did this the other week - i added in 2 egg yolks to bind them together - they were still fairly delicate tho so take care but they were lush !!

Good idea, never thought to add egg to bind. Can I ask why only the egg yolks?? What did you do with the whites??
Didn't get round to making the patties yesterday as my brother paid an unexpected visit & then I went shopping & didn't get back until late, so will attempt them today.

  • Morning everyone :hello:

Had a lie-in this morning as had a bit of a headache :o Had 3 glasses of red wine last night so might have been that

    B - 2 egg cheese omelette
L - 2 crackers with butter & cheese, garlic sausage or chicken tikka
    D - pan-fried salmon with M&S watercress sauce, bubble & squeak patties

Will be having more wine tonight probably with another 2 crackers & cheese :D
Intend watching an episode of Rebus with hubby, will have to send the kids upstairs as not suitable for them & tis nice to be just me & hubby sometimes anyway.

Looked in H&B & Tesco for seeds - wanted a mixed bag rather than buying individually.
Should I be looking for omega 6 or omega 3??
Wasn't sure which ones to get so didn't get any.

Happy to report that the new version of the choc buns went down a treat. They taste great - 5 other people said so and their faces said most (rapture :)) Using Milk choc made em sink a little in the middle but apparently still ok. (rapture still visible :))

V pleased! The dark choc ones with the alterations looked like normal buns but tasted SOOO much better than normal buns :)
