Tesco misprice policy discussion area

I have checked various sources, including BBC & Coventry Council. There is little doubt that Arena is the biggest Tesco in the UK. Some sources also say in Europe.
Put "Biggest Tesco" into Google and it all becomes clear.0 -
A serious warning.
I have just been banned from all Tescos!!!
I had 4 mispriced joints. The duty manager came over and said are you the one who bought the cheese the other day? When I said yes, he said my presence was no longer welcome in any Tesco store, and I would be treated as a trespasser if I was to enter one.To win a competition gives you the spirit to carry on (Comping).0 -

I just found this misprice (posted on other board) and wondered if anyone has had a problem with it as the price per pound matched SEL and pack, but price per kg is out:
Topside fatted beef joint are out by a penny - SEL 6.28/kg and 6.29/kg on pack BUT £2.85/lb on both. Can they argue this at CS?3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

You should report this to Trading Standards it is extremely risky for them to ban you for identifying overcharged items, I'd contact your local paper and give them your tale too, which Tesco banned you and are there any other circumstances we should be aware of? I cannot believe any manager was STUPID enough to take this action, but then again we are talking about Tesco managers here and their calibre is already well established in this and other threads, I think you will find that his or her actions are illegal, whilst they have the right to refuse access to their premises to anyone they desire they cannot do so under these circumstances, have you been supplied anything in writing to substantiate the ban? Are you sure this was the store manager and not some dopey wannabee? (Tesco do have an abundance of Quasi managers in every nook and cranny)Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
Does this mean Tescos are now issuing their own ASBO's then?
Why not drop a line to Watchdog?0 -
Problem is, if this is made really public like Watchdog (I know the policy is public already, but few actually use it actively) then Tesco's may actually move to change their policy - which none of us want! TS is a much better proposal i think.
Although I would have to say if this policy was used in moderation by MSErs, than situations like this might not arise. I would never go in a pick up more than two of something for a refund. And if it was CDs/ DVDs etc, I'd only ever get one at a time. It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Personally, I would but 2/3 OC products, but only as part of at least half a trolley load of shopping.
It remains to be seen, if many more are banned from stores for being a "regular".
How would they police it - by clubcard possibly, but you don't have to produce one, so that wouldn't work too well.0 -
ben500, personally I don't think it is helpful to give that sort of advice to anyone. Tesco are well within their rights to refuse to serve or admit anybody to their stores. Not because of overcharging but because of abuse of their policy and I think this is the reason they would give here. Justifiably so, IMO.
Nobody buys 4 joints in one go unless they are doing just that. It's not even ok to say "I bought it because it was on special offer" or something when the price difference was only 1p per kilo - hardly a special offer and not something you'd be buying 4 of unless you knew you were going to get it free! Get real here!
They feel the policy was being abused and I think would have every justification in their decision to ban someone on those grounds. I think those buying lots of something, or doing this repeatedly or chancing it for 1p are running the risk of this happening to them too and frankly, I don't think there's any problem for Tesco to overcome this one whoever you go tittle tattling to.
No, I don't work for Tescos before I get accused of that!0 -
I always pay by cash if i'm getting a misprice - then it doesn't up in the same way. It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
