    I see it quotes 1&1

Is your domain registered with 1&1?

If so check the the MX records are correct as it looks like email is being directed to 1&1 for your domain and they have no such email address on your account.

I'm just looking at my 1&1 account and I have a forwarding email set up - it was slightly different - *kicking myself*

(the NDS for 1&1 was done.)

I have know confused myself as the 1&1 is for forwarding email - how do I forward to the horde email????

well... I've received an email from my work address and as I got confused (?!?!) with the 1&1 account as it asks for a forwarding email address only and I used my yahoo one so I've got my test email... but obviously in my yahoo account (I suppose that saves me from using horde!) nothing shows in horde.

I'm hoping my little lonely brain cell kicks in soon!!!!!!!!!! but I'm not holding my breath - lol

note: my 1&1 account is forwarding email only this is why I thought that my website host would deal with email as that comes with the package I brought.

Does that mean I can only forward email and not have them through Horde?
and if I want another email account I would have to set it up on 1&1 first?

I really appreciate the help you have given... I didn't have a clue where to start - didn't even think of the 1&1 side of things.

If you are sending from your PC using outlook you may need to change the SMTP to your ISP mail settings.

Have you paid for Email service with 1&1?

Or are you just using the domain name to forward it to another address.

Checking the whois for your domain shows the nameservers as being 1and 1.co.uk

    This is your problem.

    Just to check ....

You have the domain registered with 1and1.

You have hosting and email with 3ix.

If so you need to enter the nameservers for 3ix into your domain control panel at 1&1 then wait a day or so.

3ix should have sent you an email with the nameservers in it.

Log in to 1and1 control panel and change the DNS entry for nameservers (make sure you enter both nameserver1 and nameserver2)

    Details here ... http://faq.oneandone.co.uk/domains/dns_settings/4.html

You don't use 1and1 mail forwarding you must change the name servers.

All incoming mail is going to 1and1 and it should be going to 3ix,. so is all the www traffic as well!

I just brought the domain name from 1&1 - I thought as the hosting has email then I could use that!
I have only got forwarding with 1&1 so I guess that means I can't use horde - but maybe that just saves me from entering another email client (I havn't organised my home computer with outlook yet for other email accounts I have - I do sometimes use other computers at work and wanted the option of looking online)

but then it means that I can send from horde but will not see any so it's a bit one sided.
I'm away for bit now but will check in the next hour or so - thanks

If you bought a hosting package with 3ix with email accounts you cut 1and1 out the picture.

1and1 should now just direct traffic to your new host and your emails go nowhere near 1and1 email servers.

To do this you change the nameservers to the ones 3ix sent you.
If you don't your website will never work let alone the emails.

The fact I got your email shows your 3ix host is set up ok its just the dns records at 1&1 that are wrong.

I've checked the 1&1 account and the domain forwarding address is the one that I was given from 3ix and it says its 'ready'.
