Am very envious of those who have received theirs! I have just rung Dell (again!) as suggested and basically they are saying that there is a delay on certain parts (wouldn't/couldn't specify) and I will just have to wait. She went on to say that it may still arrive in the next 4 or 5 days, despite what it says on the tracking page?! However that is now saying 23/09/2005 - a day later than it did yesterday! DS may have to wait for Father Christmas :rotfl:

NO - I emailed a response to my Dell order with a complaint that they had forgotten to include the Windows XP recovery disk and drivers CD. They replied to say you don't need these as you can recover from the HDD and besides it is no longer policy to send out these disks. I replied to say I was appalled - what happens if your hard disk crashes, or you decide to upgrade at some point in the future?? I told them I was very disappointed having bought 5 or 6 PCs from them before. A very nice chap in India then called me to arrange having them sent to me!!
They arrived by courier about 2 weeks later in 3 separate parcels - one CD in each one! :)
When my PC arrives tonight and the recovery disks aren't in there I shall do the same again.

My dell laptop came yesterday and the only cd it had was microsoft works. To have a recovery CD you have to make your own using the software on the pc.

Mine's just arrived :D Need to rush home and play with it now (work at the minute!)

As for SATA cable there are lots of online places (Ebuyer, Dabs etc.) but they're all gonna charge a load of postage.

I replied to the email that I got confirming my order - the one with the PDF attached. That seemed to do the trick - try UKI_Customer_Care@Dell.com
Might take a few times going back and forward before they accept there is a problem though!
Cheers

First impressions - VERY quiet, the plastic front around the DVD drive is a bit flimsy otherwise very smart looking. Keyboard, speakers and mouse are a bit basic for me so will keep my current ones.
3DMark2001SE score with the x300SE card is about 9,300 so I'm going to order a silent 6600GT for that real gaming experience.
Screen is OK (same as the one I've got now) - no dead pixels which is always nice - but a bit washed out colourwise. Had to set Brightness to 50%, Contrast to 100% then reduce Gamma setting to 0.8 in the ATI control panel. Now much better.
For £407 this is a fab system (just to rub it in for those who missed the offer and to enthuse those still waiting for delivery).
