Smashed - that explains it then. WW got my last PC to Coventry in next to no time - it was the UK couriers that were completely pants! They claimed to have phoned me to arrange delivery which was just a load of lies, then when they did contact me they couldn't fit me in for 5 working days! I could have walked to Coventry and carried it back quicker than they delivered it from there!

Worse , after this, I actually got another internet receipt for the same number in the middle of the night.
Knowing Dell this probably means that you've got 2 PCs on the way! Presumably those people whose orders were accepted were customers who have ordered before? I have bought 6 pcs from them in the past year which might have helped to sway things?

I'm up to number 4 now! The tension is unbearable! :)

biglugs, I have never ordered from Dell before, but my order was accepted - in production as we speak (at least I sincerely hope so  that's what it says on their site!). The tension in this house, lol!, because it's for DS who leaves for Uni on the 17th...... how do you rate our chances??

Thought that I had posted an hour ago, but its not on the thread.

WW phoned me today, and have arranged delivery for Wednesday evening. At least England are on, so I will be home :)

Bennifred, you will definitely get yours by the 17th. At worst, you would get it a week Monday. Its highly likely that yours will state despatched by the end of the day, or at worst, on Monday.
Dont worry at all, I would bet my new PC on it :)
    Be nice

If yours is in production you will DEFINITELY get it by 17th. I wish someone had got me a PC as good as this when I went to Uni - I had to make do with my casio scientific calculator (which was top of the market back in the early 80s!)

Got out call from WW today - arriving Tuesday evening!

All I have to do now is buy a PCI-E 6600GT graphics card for gaming on this PC, transfer everything off my current Athlon XP3200, move my 3200 bits into in my daughters case, sell my old case, her mboard, P3 800 and memory, my AGP graphics card, her CRT monitor, the X300SE card out of this PC and we're sorted :D I reckon I'll end up with a machine of slightly better spec than my current one, daughter gets a decent pc and TFT monitor for around £300 tops.
Or I could just let her have this Dell and save myself a load of aggro? ;)

Thanks for the reassurance! And he wouldn't be getting one as good as this if it wasn't for you guys on here  so thanks for the help and advice!

PS lol about the Casio, biglugs, it was the same for me (I reckon we must be from the same era ;) ) Wow, life would have been very different with a computer - and not having to learn programming on cards

I am really jealous reading about you all receiving your £407 machines when I ordered one on the 29th yet still got the cancelation for pricing error message. I originally got an email saying they were trying to process my order but needed further info to complete it. I gave them the info , no PDF and when I phoned again they said it was cancelled. I got no official cancelation and tried phoning to see what I could do but each time I got passed through to an overseas call centre and couldn't get to speak to anyone who might be able to do anything. This time immediately on checking after the call I got a cancelation email ! Worse , after this, I actually got another internet receipt for the same number in the middle of the night. I have also tried emailing customer support . No reply. I guess that's about it unless anyone can suggest how I can actually communicate with somebody who might be able to resurrect the order which I was promised ?

    yep bit like my experience

currently it says it is in factory...no pdf yet though?

Computing hasn't been the same since I stopped using the punch room girls to type my COBOL programs onto punched cards so I could get the Operations staff to load and run them for me!! And it wasn't that long ago - honest! :D

  • !!!!!! !! I've just checked my order status and it now says it's cancelled !!!

I've recived NO email from from them saying it's cancelled but have received the original 3 emails with pdf files saying the order is accepted.

My delivery date was supposed to be on the 9/9/2005.

    !!!!!! is going on ? Anyone ?
