It takes a while for the information to go to Pruhealth about gym visits. If I do enough visits but they don't receive it until some time in November are they going to charge me based on the information they have when the quarter ended?
Edit: Question about vitality discount. If I get platinum status I get 100% of my premium back as a discount on the following years premium. So year 1 I pay money to Pruhealth, year 2 I get that money knocked off so I might pay £3 a month instead of £23. In year 3 if I get 100% again, do they knock off 100% of £3 or 100% of £23?0 -
I have recently come to the end of my first 3 months membership, and called Pru Health to find out exactly how many visits I needed in that time. I was told that as I had joined at the beginning of July, I needed to add the number of days in July (31), August (31) and September (30), divide that by 7 (number of days in a week) and then multiply by 2 (number of visits needed per week). Grand total was 26 days. I had just over a week until deadline, so stepped it up at the gym (5 times in one week without swiping and running!) and calculated that i'd been 28 times - just to be safe!
I had also been told by Pru that they only log the visits twice a month.
On checking my vitality statement online, there we dates missing for the previous few weeks, but my recent visits were showing! Thank goodness i'd written on my calendar each day i'd been, so called them up and disputed the missing dates. A couple of days later, they appeared on my statement. I advise everyone to make of note of when they have visited the gym, this system isn't to be trusted 100%!
Other than that, i'm happy with the system. I am with LA Fitness, and their standard membership is £49 a month. I'm paying £29 a month and now doing 3 studio classes per week so exceed my minimum 'swipe limit'.0 -
So is the best advice to activate gym membership on 1st November? If so, can I call today and ask for my card etc to be sent out but for my membership to start on 1st November?0

It won't add 31 days to the quarter I'm sure:o0 -
I've had the Pruhealth policy for a couple of weeks now and I have been down to the gym and got a membership number, but I haven't called Pruhealth to activate the membership.0

I suppose you could ask for it to start on 1st Nov.;)0 -

You get 100% of the previous years premium (before discounts) I believe. In year 3 you wouldn't get 100% of £3, you'd get 100% off of £23. Except it wouldn't be £23 because it would go up and chances are it's £23 now AFTER discounts.
For example my premium is £20, but that is half-price via boots. Even with pru, it would be £28 because of the 30% declaration discount in year 1. The real premium is £40 and in year 2, should I get platinum, the premium will be: New premium-£40= Price To Pay. It should be about £5-£10. The following year is the same, in each year they ignore the price you pay and use the premium due before any discount. I hope that's clear. With regards to your friend, as far as im aware u have to be 18 to join pru or ANY gym.
Signed up for LA Fitness (3rd attempt) last night. They say you must be over 160 -
That's if you don't claim;) If you do, you lose the no-claim discount and back to the full price next year.
There's no 'protected no-claim discount' like cars:D0 -
I joined Pruhealth last November and am now coming up for renewal. When I got my renewal documents yesterday I was surprised to see that the premium has increased by about 10% since last year. I'm currently at Gold status vitality points but think I can get to Platinum by the end of the month in time to get 100% of this year's premium off next year's premium.
What I'm annoyed about is this statement which I found on the Vitality Gym Membership section of the site.
"As you moved across to the new gym pricing structure less than 14 days prior to the end of the above quarter, your average gym visits will only come into effect for the following quarter."
As I'm a member of a Virgin Active Gym, they going charge me £40 a month for the next quarter even though I've been a 'regular user' of the gym (going 4-5 times a week) for the past year. I'm am outraged by this as I've been promised on two separate occasions that I'd be moved over to the new pricing structure on renewal, and that my visits would be monitored in the 3 months leading up to renewal. Not the three months after renewal!
I just wanted to warn anyone else coming up for renewal that they might not be moved over to the new pricing structure as expected! I've sent them a strongly worded email.0 -
Hi There,
I have been with pru health just over a year now and recently renewed the policy along with cannons membership. I moved house earlier this year and informed them of the address change. I am currently paying around 33 to pru and 25 to Cannons per month. I do attend often but sometimes don't manage the 2 in a week due to work commitments.
I was wondering if i could cancel my existing policy and then renew (using a site like quidco). Do you think this would work at the same address?
I don't feel that the policy price reduced enough after year 1 and I didn't reach the vitality points i expected.
Apologies if this has been covered before, this is my first post.
Thanks
