    Hi Peeps

    Please can I join you??

I struggled with my wieght for almost 20 years now, have treid every diet under the sun. I always seem to manage to loose between 2 and 4 stone and then put it all back on again. I eat when I'm bored and for comfort and its always the wrong things, mainly chocolate.

Went to the doctors last week 'cos it's starting to hurt whenever I get up after sitting for half an hour or so and my concentration has gone out of the window. I've had everything tested possible and it looks like the only cause can be my weight. I have 9 stone to loose if I'm to get to the weight that is suggested for my height but that seems such a huge amount I'm scared to even contemplate how I'll get there.

I think I'm going to give SW another try as I really don't think I'm dedicated enough to count calories, although I will be doing it by myself as I haven't got the guts to go to a class.

    Thanks

    Hi Red and 0pw01ya.bmp

First of all don't look too far ahead, just break it down into mini targets such as getting into the next stone down and then the first whole stone etc. Your tale is one that is very representative of many of us here and a lot of folks here have great succes with SW so give it another try and make sure you follow it :D If you have any questions just ask!

Keep with us and keep posting, oh join in our monthly challenge too, as I find them to be a great way of making me stay focused :j

    Hi there

Well first as has already been said, dont look at it as losing 9stone. Start of with your first stone as your goal. When you get there, look to the next one.

I change my goals from lbs to stone. For instance once Id lost 3 stones, I set my next target as 50lbs, once I got there I set it to 5 stones etc All goals within my reach and attainable within a matter of weeks :) Its much more motivating. Ive now lost just over 80lbs and my next goal is 100 for my parents anniversary in September.

    Good luck with SW :)

    Hi
Has anyone out there signed up for the diets for idiots web site

it promises that you will lose 9lb every 11 days

Yes i know some of these diets are cons - but i read a few reviews and it sound ok,

It gives you an 11 day plan to follow - does any one have the plan so i can have a look at it before i buy

just wondering if any one has invested the $39 in downloading the plan and was it worth it,

My mind tends to wander............If found please return;)

Personally I wouldnt waste my money. Sounds very dodgy.

Even people doing very low calorie diets like Cambridge wouldnt lose that kind of weight every week, on their first week maybe but not every week.

I think the only thing losing pounds will be your wallet!

petrichor- hows the Radley hunt going then?

    Hi beanie:wave:

Due to the appalling weather that we had the other week we had to delay our shopping expedition until Tuesday of last week. We went to John Lewis and Debenhams but both shops were in the midst of 'Sales' and all manner of rubbish was there. There were a few Radley bags in the 'sale' but they were scuffed and grubby looking, and I wanted a decent ones for both DD and myself and neither of us was keen on the others that were there. So it was a case of Boo (Hoo) Radley ;) that day. We have found what she wants online so we're now trying to find a local stockist.

However I did treat her to a Radley umbrella as pictured here (I've just taken the pic and uploaded it, never done that before! I got DD to take it outside which she didn't want to do because it was raining - it's an umbrella for goodness sake!!!) lnv1a20.jpg Can't believe I've managed that, I thought I'd just give it a go ready to show the handbags when we do eventually get them.

Look at those lovely Scotties :o aah!!...

    Hi Katmad

Here is my recipe for garlic beans. For ease I've shown the quantities as specified in the original recipe, I used dried haricot beans in a quantity required for us, but the method is exactly as I did it.

    Garlic Beans (low cal version)

    1 red onion, sliced
1 bulb garlic peeled and roughly chopped
    2 bay leaves
    4 tsp dried oregano
2 x 400g cans white beans rinsed and drained
    8 small plum tomatoes
2 tsp chilli flakes or to taste
200 ml stock (water + 1tsp marigold powder, 1 tbsp sherry vinegar and 1tsp smoked paprika)
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

    Preheat oven to 200C/gas 6
Spray a baking dish with Fry light. Add the onions, garlic and herbs, spray them again to lightly coat. Put in oven and bake until softened and coloured (cover with foil if it starts to get too brown ).
Mix in the beans, tomatoes, chilli flakes and seasoning. Spread out evenly. Pour in the stock, cover loosely with foil and bake for about 30 mins

(The original recipe used chorizo sausage, olive oil, and sherry.)

I served it with cherry tomatoes, courgettes and onions roasted with some balsamic vinegar, and bulgar wheat.

I agree with Starlight - there's only one healthy way to lose weight and it takes time.

You may well lose that amount in the first week, since most of that would be water, but it's impossible to maintain that rate of loss consistently.

I recommend Slimming World - I lost over 4 stone in less than 6 months. You get loads to eat (proper food too, not the rabbit variety).

Meanwhile why not pop in to the Lose Weight thread on the "I Wanna" board for loads of friendly advice and tips from other would be slimmers.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

You know what i think you may be right.

just had a browse through a few review sites and it seems that most of them say what a fantastic diet this is, however by reading them it seems like most of them are written in by guest's which someone pointed out is most likely someone with connections to the book/diet to keep the money rolling in...

oh well, everyone likes a quick fix
