Evening all :hello:
I was busy entertaining last night, so only had time for a quick look at the posts, and what a lot I had to catch up on tonight!
Welcome Lainie, Red, Lynn and JHKE, and welcome back Beanielou .ajaxgeezer wrote: »
Wednesday: Vegetable madras, as found in the SW books, served with white rice.
Sounds nice ... any chance of the recipe?
Petrichor - I love the Radley brolley and had to laugh at your DD not wanting to take it outside in the rain!Part of the fun of buying something special is the time spent looking for it (and the opportunity to buy other things while you're looking!)
Lainie - I've heard that a diet lacking in essential nutrients can bring on ADHD, so changes to the diet can improve it. How old is your son, and is he getting any help with school work? Have you been given any advice about dealing with it?
Mine all mine - it's tempting not to weigh yourself when you've had a 'bad' week, but you may not have done as much damage as you think. It's better to know, as it can act as a motivator to get you back on track. Have you heard of the Day One club? If you've fallen off the wagon, make a decision to get back on again the next day (Day One) and start again. Consultant31 has a saying - it's not how often you fall off the wagon, it's about having the willpower to keep getting back on again (or words to that effect).
Victory - I didn't know there was such a thing as 'behind the cooker'! Feel free to come and clean mine anytime you like! I don't think I'm quite as particular as you about cleaning before I go away, but I do like to leave the house tidy, and I always put clean sheets on so we've got a nice fresh bed to come home to.
Tallgirl - I joined in the 7 drinks a week challenge with you last time and I was boringly saintly :A but it's a whole different story now. DH and I have started having a 2nd glass of wine on too many evenings and last night we got through 3 bottles (between 3 of us). Think I'll just stick to 1 (glass) tonight, and join you in the challenge next week. Sorry to hear about your Mum's partner.
Have a good weekend everyone.

Evening Peeps
Crumbs what a wet and miserable day, never mind though.
...Ajax even to a non veggie your menu plan sounds really nice, I must try get round to trying some quorn but it's getting MrP to agree, I was looking at some in Tesco today but he said that he didn't want 'that rubbish'What would you suggest for a newcomer to quorn try first? If I find that I like some it'll be easier to get MrP to try it as well. We eat a lot of non meat meals but never quorn. I've found planning to be very helpful, I only show the evening meal because it's the only meal that we all eat together. Well done on giving MrsA a treat too  ...
...Hi lynndan16 and welcome to our happy band of losers :T There are other diabetics here so you will get loads of wise advice...
...I hope everyone has a great weekend, remember that help is at your fingertips :j ...

Petrichor and Beanielou - I clearly am leading a very sheltered exisitance as I have absolutely no idea what a radley handbag is! Must check out Ebay to be educated.
Petrichor, I confess as as a recent convert to quorn, I am still not generally giving it to OH (I have it as fillets or sausages when giving him chicken pieces or meat sausages so it's an easy switch.) I did put quorn pieces in Lois's pasta bake and they were tasty. I am going to try him on the Thai fillet soon. He's grateful for anything I put in front of him but I just don't think he'd enjoy most of the quorn. How about trying a 50/50 mix of quorn mince with real mince as a starter?
Well done on a great start Red. And that's before you get organised:T
Welcome Lynn :T - you've made a very positive first step by joining us here. As you say, signing up for each monthly challenge will see you well on your way.
Hey Ajax - a dilemma for you next week. I'd say go for the drink -you have to live. But, as discussed this week by others , it is so difficult to handle the balance between sticking to your regime and still having a social life. How about being very good this week and weighinng in a day early to see how you've done, and then have your night out and you have a week to get back on track?
Brighton belleI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
My apologies for diving right in here - but have any of you been on sparkpeople.com? Thats the free website that ive been using for weight loss. Its american, but quite comprehensive!

Quorn is an acquired taste for a carnivore! I first started using Quorn when I started SW and DH was quite open minded about it, but my son wasn't keen at all - he thinks it's necessary to eat meat in some form or other every day. However, he ate Quorn chilli and thought it was made with meat. I think it's about how it's served - it needs 'spicing up' as it can be quite bland. Try the recipe for sausage ragout on the recipes thread, and there's a recipe for pasta bake with Quorn mince in it too.
You could also try Quorn pieces with mushroom stroganoff:
(serves 2)
Schwartz mushroom stroganoff mix (4.5 syns on SW)
about 1lb of chopped mushrooms
chopped red or green pepper
chopped onions (1 large or 2 small)
150g Quorn pieces (more if you want)
milk and/or water to mix
In a large pan, fry the onions with frylight until they start to soften, then add the peppers and continue frying for a few minutes. Add the mushrooms and Quorn pieces, stir, then cover the pan and cook over a low heat until the veg is tender. Add milk and/or water to packet mix and stir until smooth, then add to the pan, stirring until it thickens.
As an optional extra add a tablespoon of mango chutney and stir in.
Serve with rice or spaghetti.

Im a recent Quorn convert!! I only ever use Quorn mince in my Bolognese now and honestly dont notice the difference.
Ive started trying the full Quorn range, and Ive been very impressed by it all.
Id definitely recommend it to anyone doing Weight Watchers as is amazingly low in points - and that HAS to be good0 -

. ... BB normally that would be a fantastic idea. However we have a new consultant and her experience of us so far has been two weeks of not staying and a week of not turning up. I really have to go to her class this week0
