I noticed the same thing. They have only recently added non BT lines to a reduced option so I doubt this 30p is anything other than a glitch ......I hope because this has halved my bills

    Hi,

We tried to make a local phone call this morning as well using 18866, but the tariff is 30p a minute! Went to the website to check the call charges, but nowhere stated how much a UK local/fixed line call would cost. There's a tariff for UK mobile phone, but that's all for UK.

We used 1899 instead to make that phone call. It's still at 0p per minute.

We haven't encountered any warning before, so not sure if this is a temporary glitch or 18866 is actually changing their tariff without warning.

*******IMPORTANT INFO FOR 18866 AND 1899 USERS
Make sure you don't get caught out by higher-than-expected tariffs - enable the tariff reminder notification at the start of each call you make with 18866 and 1899. You can enable/disable this in the preferences/settings page on their websites. And don't forget to check their updated tariff lists regularly.

  • UPDATE

I made a call before 9am to test this and I have been charged at 30p per minute.

However the message has now changed and is back to the 'zero p per minute' message so hopefully it was a glitch?

As several posts, threads have been started regarding this I have merged them all and it the posts are in time order.

It would appear that 18866 is now back to normal, please post if you find this is not the case ;)

    Hi,
I have just tried 18866 and it announces 0p per minute. Some time ago I misdialled to somehow got a 118 into the number which gave the 30p message. Still seems OK on 18866, check the dialling.

OK I've left a message (i just have a mobile number). Hopefully it will call back soon.

Can people keep checking - i've tried and i get the 0p/min.

    Some questions

    A. Are you being charged 30p even if it says 0p
    B. Is the 30p/min message still there?
    C. When you're being charged 30p/min is this just via the 18866 dial in number or are you using the full dial number?
