Lose Weight 11

Just a quickie to let you know that I've lost a measly half a lb this week.
I'm hoping that all of the exercise is converting me into a firm lean toned person (!!) amd that the lack of weight loss is now solid muscle! Have gone for 2 hour long walks with the dog today and succumbed to an icecream in the nice weather (perhaps that's why there's only 0.5lbs off!).
I shared it with the dog - damage limitation.
Why is the last half stone so flipping hard? Its a combination of lack of motivation and when I am good it just doesn't seem to want to budge!!!!
Am starting again tomorrow - green days with low syns (will try to stick to 10). Must lose at least a lb by May 7th or am giving up!
Hi Rachel - half a pound off is a good result, and all the better when you consider how close you are to goal. It does get much harder to stay motivated and to lose weight.
Do you measure yourself too? I'm sure with the amount of exercise your dog gets you must be toning up your muscles - are your clothes feeling looser?
Have you tried success express? I haven't followed it myself, but I've heard that it can make a difference.

Morning all.
Welcome to all the new people.
Well the calories counting seems to work as I've lost 2lbs this week.0 -
Hello everyone, it is 13 months exactly until my 40th birthday. It was my H 40th in February and I did a party for him, but hated feeling fat and unhealthy, especially as there were people there I hadn't seen for 5 years.
So....As I have an enormous amount of weight to shift - currently snuggly fitting size 24 clothes :embarasse - I have to do something about it. Can't stand my local SW consultant, been 3 times and fallen off wagon each time, and each time she still can't read my name right...how difficult can 'Debbie' be?!! So I'm going to try to start on my own. Definately need the boot up the backside bit, I'm going to get some new scales today as my old ones died a miserable unused death.
Wish me...not luck, more determination to get slim....13 months should be plenty of time to do it slowly and well!

All the best in the world for you Debbie you know you can do it, we are with you all the way...
petrichor I hope you are out of the corner now and feeling much better, naughty naughty weighing in when not supposed to, it will have a completely different reading today you will see:D
Well done Edimew you want to put it up in big letters not quietly hidden away in a tiny little sentence, 2 lb is a huge pride weight loss, stand tall be proud and love every second of getting thinner!!0 -
Hi Sa1sysoo - welcome back, and good luck with your weight loss. 10 stone is 63.6 kilos, so you've got 9.4 kilos to lose, or 20.68 pounds.
Is calorie counting your preferred weight loss method, or have you considered other options, like Weightwatchers or Slimming World?
LL
Hiya LL,
Thanks for the guidance on the lb to kg... I was gonna put it in a calculator today... Honest!
To be truthful, I havn't tried many different ways of losing weight, although I did try and go on a low-carb diet, as pasta is my weakness, resulting in my putting on weight:eek: I did try it for month, and with putting on weight and no sign of decline after that I thought... stuff it!
I do try to go to the gym quite regularly, but it can vary between once and three times a week. I don't own a car or a bike, so I walk everywhere, and I have begun to climb the escalators on my way to work. I also do my dancemat of weekend (well... until I broke it:o )
I thought I was eating much more healthily since before our wedding (nearly two years ago now) but I seem to only be putting on weight.
So we (my husband and I) thought that if we counted the calories we'd see if it was that I was taking too many, or (which may be more likely) that I was taking on too few!
So, food so far today:
1 x cup of tea (two sugars:eek: )
For lunch I have a salad consisting of carrot x1, cherry tomatos x 5, iceberg lettuce 3 x leaves, 1/3 cucumber chopped, half a green pepper, 2x eggs, 2 x satsumas, orange, apple, banana, pear, plum, small bag of raisins and grapes (Handful of).
I usually don't eat it all.
Havn't thought about dinner yet.
Any advice on lunches or dinners greatly received! I'll have to hunt out the recipe (sp?) thread!

Mornin all!
I usually just read this thread and post my weight loss (or gain lol) each week, but I have a question which I'm hoping someone can help with.
I've never been a big drinker, but recently have started going out a bit more and my weekness is vodka and orange juice. Now I would've thought that this would make me put weight on (especially the amounts I'm drinking:rotfl: ) but I still seem to be losing. Can anyone tell me how many calories are in the average shot of vodka, and a bottle of britvic orange juice?
Hope someone can help - then I'll know whether to go on the diet coke for a while to help me lose a bit more, a bit quicker

Lunches-cup a slim a soup with 2 slices of wholemeal bread, salad with tuna or sardines on toast, 1 hard boiled egg with 2 slices of wholemeal bread, a sandwich from the supermarket with less than 3% fat and around 250 calories, fruit, mutigrain ryvita with less than 3% fat cottage cheese, crackers with marmite, baked beans WW small tin on toast, 3 small new potatoes with salad, little pasta twirls with salad...
Dinner-huge amount of veg(vary it from day to day) with fresh tuna, cod, or small tin of mixed beans, basmati rice with a little lean chicken or turkey, jacket potato with beans, home made sauce....0 -
For the newbies top 20 get started ideas....
1. Do it for yourself not for H or anyone else as it has to come from you.
2. Banish all bad foods, have a complete clear out and replace with fresh fruit, veg, crackers, brown bread, brown rice etc.
3. Drink loads of water all day, hot lemon is lovely.
4. Tell friends and family so you have a support network.
5. Aim for little goals, like 2 lb a week weight loss, or for someones wedding etc that gives you the motivation to go forward.
6. Never look at the whole amount of weight you have to loose because it will defeat you from the offset, break it down.
7. Cook from fresh, ban all processed foods.
8. Change to low fat foods, semi skimmed or skimmed milk, less than 3% fat products, sugar free jelly, wholemeal bread, all the calories you save do add up.
9. Up the exercise whether it be walking to walk, cycling with the kids, swimming, everything burns up the calories and speeds up the metabolism.
10. Find some old photos and put them in the kitchen or on the wall and look at them to see that you can do it.
11. Realise that we are all human and sometimes it will seem impossible or you may give up, have a bad day but recognise it and next day start again.
12. Keep a food diary and write it down as soon as you are eating it not at the end of the day as it will be forgotten.
13. Measure yourself all over and when the scales show no change the measurements invariably will and that will keep you going.
14. Only weigh yourself once a week, any more than that is counter productive.
15. Take something low calorie to work if there is temptation all around, when they bring theirs out you can munch on your good healthy weight loss foods and feel included.
16. Don't look on this as a diet, torture, punishment or just sheer torture, it is healthy eating and is doing you good and will produce the results you want.
17. When it is TOTM or the hunger is so strong, divert your attention elsewhere, play with the kids, go for a walk, have a bath, up the exercise, paint your nails, drink lots of water, organize a treat-manicure, hair cut, etc and wait for it to pass , you will feel proud of yourself you managed not to give in.
18. Keep all your weight loss slips, have a chart in your kitchen or anywhere and when it is a down moment look at it and see your progress.
19. Never feel alone, there are plenty of us loosing weight and we know how it feels!!
20. Think of all the lovely clothes you can wear, the summer swimsuits and shorts, how much better you will feel, how healthier your body will be, how much energy you will have and how damn gorgeous/handsome you will look.
Be good, be motivated, keep determined and it will show on your hips:D0 -

Hello Pot this is the kettle, Kettle this is the Pot
Petrichor, you know you shouldnt have, (but then so did victory) The reason we weigh once a week is that the body's own weight changes day on day, even if your been 100% perfect, I can promise changes. Personally I seem to have slipped into my slow, slow quick, slow slow pattern again, It happened last autum as well. So when it does drop it will be a sudden drop. Well it better do! So if your not out of that corner, do I have to come and get you?Proud Member of the Lose Weight Thread on I Wanna..................

And petrichor, please don't be too down on yourself. You're a fabulous person who's incredibly supportive of others, and I have admired how far you've come so far. (I kinda kept secretly reading the thread and feeling terribly guilty!:o ) I was in tears this morning about exactly the same thing, but thanks to your support and others on this thread, you've persuaded me to grab the bull by the horns.
Big Hugs.Awww!! I feel so ashamed now, I've never had that said about me before in my life so I made a point of reading it out to MrP when I read it first thing this morning. Any way welldone Salsysoo for coming back :T and dry those tears because this time you will succeed.
xxxxI wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latterbut my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!
