    Not understanding this.

All I can see for £15 is 1MB and free connection for the Biennial at 24monthsx£15 = £360 no modem.

Or the Annual 12months X £15 =£180 with free connection OR free modem OR upgrade to 1MB

NONE of them state a free modem for 1MB at the £15 range you have to take the 1MB upgrade from 512Kb instead of the modem

Do these prices have to be paid up front??? Dont fancy having to fork out that kind of cash.
Have another look sco0ter. Until this Sun night new customers signing up for 24 months on 512kbps (£15/month), 1Mbps (£18/month) or 2Mbps (£22/month) packages get free connection AND free 4-port modem. Sign up for 12 months at the same monthly rates and you get a free connection OR modem, OR a speed upgrade on the slower packages. If you miss this offer there'll be another along in a few days!

Yes, you do have to pay up front for the entire term that you choose. Pay by credit card if you're at all nervous about e7even folding or not providing the promised service, and your credit card provider must cough up if necessary under the Consumer Credit Act 1974. That doesn't apply to the 3-month deals, as they're under £100 (but less good value anyway, so not worth doing IMHO).

There's been quite a bit of chat in other forums (ADSLguide, The Scream, ISP Review, to name some) from folk nervous about signing up with a relatively unknown ISP with a contact number at a "shady" London maildrop address (Old Gloucester St, just off Southampton Row). However, it actually operates from Maidstone and also runs phone call reseller Touch Telecom, which I haven't seen any bad reports about. E7even seems to have a fairly loyal and dedicated following with a good reputation for going out of its way to look after its customers, quick response to e-mailed queries and willing to own up & put things right promptly when they go wrong.

In fact, I liked the sound of it so much that I've actually signed up myself tonight for the 512k annual package. Subtracting the free connection, that's an (almost) unbeatable £10.83/mth for UNCAPPED 512k, so thanks to all you guys (& gals) out there for persuading me with your recommendations.

I heard the other day either on tv or radio, cannot remember which, that there is a new company going to offer broadband for £9.99 per month, I have been hoping for something less than a tenner, on dial up at present, we get broadband where I live in May. Did anyone, by chance , hear this? can you tell me who it is? thanks in anticipation, oap

could have been these guys: https://www.ukonline.co.uk

  • We have ran our own ISP for over a year now and most of our customers come from personal recomendation,

We find that good personal support service is the most important issue for almost all of our customers,

We have a very fast service but find no reason to have any restrictions whatsoever which means in theory you can get over 600Gb a month as well as being competative price wise.

Although we have now bringing out a capped home and business service at a much cheaper price we still will not throttle ports and believe in giving full throughput,

I often look at these reduced price offers and at articles such as tiscali throwing off over 500 users for downloading too much and I think its wrong every one is scrambling around giving cheaper deals and in a lot of cases the service starts to suffer ,

    Slowdowns in busy periodes
    disconnections
    port throttling
    Slow throughput
    Call centers in india
0900 support numbers again usely to india
Throwing people off for downloading to much (How if your on an unmetered service can you download too much)

Ok every one likes a cheaper service and Uk online recently announced a 512 service for £9.99 what they dident say when they put that price out into the public marketplace was that very few people could actualy get it as it was only available in exchanges where they have put in their own equipment mostly down south and if you want it from any other exchange it is £19.99

So if you want an excellent service make your self a check list of what you want from an ISP and more importantly what you dont want.

How ever if cost is all that matters then balance out the cheapest and what you get for your money as going over your limits can be costly

There aren't that many providers with their own equipment in the exchanges at the moment, so for most people they have to rely on their provider using a BT wholesale product.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Thanks a lot for replies, yes it was uk online, knew it had uk in title, so will wait until we get broadban on 4 May and see what happens, but maybe we will not be able to get it. Will let you know if we can, cannot go more than £9.99 a month which is what we pay now for dial up, best wishes oap

I was interested in the UK Online offer (512 kbps), but was not reassured by their website details, so e-mailed them, with the following questions:
    1. Why do you say £9.99 per month but when checking on website it jumps to £19.99 per month.
    2. How long is the minimum contract.
    3. What is the contention ratio.
    4. What are the set-up fees, modem and line filter costs.

I received the following prompt reply from a chap called Piers Pennington :
and thought they may be of interest to fellow MSE members:

Hi, Thanks for your email. In response to your questions...

    1. UK Online is now able to provide its broadband services in two ways - via
our own network and via BT's network. In the exchanges where we have our own
equipment (which covers 4.4 million homes, the exchanges are listed on the
website) we use our own equipment and are therefore able to offer the
service at a lower price. In those exchanges where we don't have our own
equipment (the rest of the country), we use BT's network and are unable to
offer you the same great prices. This is why we have different prices for
the same services; we're passing on savings to customers wherever possible.
If £19.99 is appearing, you are connected to an exchange where we do not
have our own equipment, so this will be the price at which we can offer you
    the service.

    2. 12 months

    3. 50 to 1

    4. The modem and line filters are free. As it appears that you are connected
to an exchange where we do not have our own equipment, there will be no
connection fee -- the monthly price, though, will be £19.99.

For more information, please visit https://www.ukonline.net/ukfastest or give me a
    call direct on 0207 032 6320.

    Hope this helps,

    Piers.

Hi again, that is wonderful information, thanks a lot, have a feeling where we live, off the coast of North Wales, we will not get it, there is always a catch, but maybe, as the competition hots up, we will all get a better deal, so will stay with dial up, which is quite quick , probably quick enough for us at the saving in costs, best wishes and thanks again, most helpful, oap

Why dont they just say what they mean instead of all the stupid asterix and double asterix stuff. I hate ISP's that cant come out and tell you things in black and white. Is it too hard to say

"This weekend only free modem and speed upgrade on selected packages."

    Jeez some people
