MSE Pregnancy Club 18

Morning All

Thought I had better show my face and give you all an update.

My gorgeous baby girl Holly May made a safe and very swift arrival on July 14th at 4.45am. Weighing a healthy 8lb 5ozs.

Was induced the Tuesday at 10.50am and had niggling pains all days but the cervix wouldn't ripen.
Was re induced at 8pm, boyfriend was asked to leave at 9pm but a lovely midwife from the labour ward called Rhian :A pulled some strings and got him as dorm downstairs in the hospital as she didn't expect me to last all night.

Got to 1am and was having regular contractions, was checked by midwife from hell (MFH) and was 1cm dilated. Asked to go in the bath and if i could have painkillers.
2am - finally got my bath and painkillers.
2.30am - got out of bath
2.35 - 3am - contractions and at 2.50 my waters broke :eek:which scared the carp out of me. MFH stood looking at me, refused to let me change and put me on a monitor for 15 minutes.:mad:
3am - 3.45am - contractions got stronger and closer together but MFH refused me any more pain relief and refused to check me. Was told I was overreacting with contractions fr 1cm dilated and to 'just breath'
3.45am - she put me on a TENS machine which cut out every time I boosted it so called to tell her which she complained I was being too demanding and it took 15 minutes for her to change two batteries.
4am - Rhian:A (midwife who got Owen the dorm) came onto induction ward and asked MFH if I'd be checked as something wasn't right. MFH replied that she wasn't going to check me, nor had she since 1am and that I was 'just making a fuss'. Rhian then said she had to check me and MFH said (whilst stood at foot of my bed) 'well if you want to do anything with her you can check her yourself' before she promptly stormed off.

By this point I was hysterical, Rhian then ran and got gloves, was really lovely and held my hand through contractions before checking me, was found to be 6cm dilated so she said she was taking me to labour ward. She rang Owen's dorm, then got me into a wheelchair, pushed me over to labour ward where Owen met me, he promptly burst into tears at the sight of me so distressed.
Into delivery suite and onto bed at 4.15am, got hooked up on the gas and air and holly was born 30 minutes later.

Rhian stayed with us the whole time, let Owen cut the cord which he never got to do with his boys, and did all the necessary checks etc, got me and boyfriend a cup of tea each, and stayed and had a cuddle with baby before her shift finished.

Needless to say I did put a complaint in about the other midwife and she had the cheek to come in my delivery suite and take the TENS machine back and all she said was 'oh you had her then'.:eek::mad::mad::mad::mad:

So it was rather eventful and I was that high on gas and air that Owen had to fill bits in for me about the actual birth but main thing is babe is here safe and sound and she has gained an ounce already.

Oh and we are both absolutely smitten with her. :D:D:D:D:D

Congratulations Sammy, Holly May is beautiful And MFH needs a good slap!

I don't envy you ladies in the South East the heat today. 16 degrees and drizzly at the moment here in Devon - bliss The last few days it's been so nice to have feet and ankles that are a vaguely normal shape at the end of the day!

Lol - Holly has lost 10 minutes of her lifetime already! 4.45am!! :rotfl:

Aww Sammy what an absolutely gorgeous picture! well done sounds like you did so well, I hope i don't have a midwife like that pretty scary! Congratulations

PP hope you can get a scan and the bleeding stops

It's been raining here on and off all week so not too hot but that didn't stop me from having the WORST night's sleep ever last night

but i have exciting news... I had a show last night... as i'm a first timer no idea how much is normal etc. but it came out in dribs and drabs all night (Sorry TMI!)

I know it could still be weeks but I'm overexcited now!

2nd and more timers, if you had a show how long after did labour start...?
