each service provided by the UW requires the customer to pay a small membership fee each month...... Hope this helps, from a UW Distributor
Doesn't really help at all. It misleads.
In fact every member pays one significant membership fee (from £1.73 to £2.94) every month irrespective of how many services they take. This is on top of whatever the charges are for each service.
What is it for? It seems to be just another standing charge levied by the uw, and hides the true cost of using their products.
And the membership fee attracts VAT at the top rate, so energy only members have to pay only 5% VAT on their gas and electricity, but 15% on their monthly membership fee.0 -
I pay £2.30 per month membership fee and the wife gets £10,000 if i die in a freak accident (actually, I made the 'freak' bit up, it's frankly just an accident) and totally inclusive calls to UWs CS line, cashback card top-up line, BB support line etc. You probably won't believe this but, it's true I swear, they are based in the UK Head office and all the ones I've spoken to so far have demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt that English is actually their first language. And they don't appear to be working from a script.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
Really Quentin, you are beyond the pale of absurdity. In fact, you have the palest online visage ever. I bet you're 3'10" with a mummy fixation and a teddy bear.
I make no apologies for my conclusions.'The only thing that helps me keep my slender grip on reality is the friendship I have with my collection of singing potatoes'

Could Quentin's lack of physical stature have anything to do with his apparent total inability to provide the long-anticipated link to the UW-beating pre-paid cashback card he's been banging on about for months? I think we should demand to be told. A recent sighting with 'his' manager.Call me Carmine....

What I find extremely hypocritical is someone that CONSTANTLY berates others for not answering questions and yet fails to answer the same question on no less than six seperate occasions...

Those last few were on this very thread but you still seemed to have your UW blinkers on
So you obviously have either selected eyesight or are completely ignorant, either way you have totally missed the point that I DO derive an extra benefit from my retail shop, that now equates to 8% on what I spend in Tescos.
You continously state that deals tokens arent worth four times the value of clubcard vouchers, I have proved they are (with backup from another forum member)
It was comedy genius when you argued your point here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=24305907&postcount=4994 saying they are only worth 3 times the value of the CC vouchers but that would still make it 6% which is still better than the UW card! :rotfl:Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
A cashback card that can beat UWs? Bring it on Quentin! It's surely your duty to reveal this on a money saving website?
Hey everybody, Quentin has some money saving info that he won't divulge! That's not very nice, is it? Booh!'The only thing that helps me keep my slender grip on reality is the friendship I have with my collection of singing potatoes'

As I have proved to Carmine, correct use of the Tesco clubcard gives you 8%, those lucky enough to have got a Clubcard + can now get 12% on their spend.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0

Your wasting your breath mate. I've pointed out quite fairly and with any bias that I (you?) could receive free broadband and phone with UW if your spend on their discount card is sufficiently large. So you can receive the benefit of the discount card without having to waste your efforts trying to get their ridiculously expensive energy price down to an acceptable level. Its common sense which is duly ignored as usual by the rabid pro UW camp who obviously have a vested interest in explaining away expensive energy tariffs.
To answer carmine, I like to answer his questions;). The Mrs will never buy food online, end of story. A little old fashioned you see, likes to see the food that she buys.0 -

Plushchris, you are quite right that 4xvoucher deals are available as I use this benefit to get Cafe Rouge vouchers and just had some more in the mail yesterday. However, I also use my UW cashback card so that I get 5% off the following:
Sainsbury Food
Sainsbury Petrol
Itunes
Next
Boots
House of Fraser (10%)
Argos
New Look
Top Shop
River Island
Halford
Homebase
TGI Friday
There are more but these are the ones we use most often. What we (and others) like is that this is a straight forward cash benefit on the UW bill and also a budgeting tool and a safer means of using cards as there is no direct link to your bank or credit card limit.A Utility Warehouse Distributor0
