I've been thinking about this, and wondering - with DS my labour was very quick, and the pushing part was quick, and so i needed stitches. So not sure if i'd want to risk it being any quicker

    I agree

however, I plan to do perineum massage from Tuesday, well get OH to do it (god help me ) to try and avoid stitches.

We can do all the things in the world to prepare and I probably am taking it more seriously and to more extremes than others but we can still end up with long labours, stitches etc. IMO it's worth a try!

Update re M&P moses basket mattress size. I have just been and had a look, it says on the label in the moses basket:

    Dimension of base approx 710mmm x 350mmm

And the mattress that the previous owner had left in there was a bit small compared to the basket and measures about 67cm x 29cm, so I expect that was just a standard size mattress they bought.

So I cleverly thought I would look on M&P website as surely their mattresses would fit but the size on there is 67cm x 30cm which doesnt seem big enough, or perhaps is it ok? I have sent them an email asking so Ill let you know when they reply.

I then went on John Lewis out of interest (and as they are free delivery hehe) and they have 3 moses mattresses in the following sizes (all £11.50 delivered):

    70cm x 29cm
    75cm x 28cm
    66cm x 26cm

So Im thinking the closest match I can get at the moment is the john lewis 70cm x 29cm?? Will just also have a look at ebay as I think glam mentioned they make them to measure??

    xx

EDIT Just spied on the existing mattress label it is actually 67cm x 30cm so I expect this was the original mattress that came with the moses basket.

    Lovely bump glam :)

harley i am the same at home trying to do things but bump / my body just wont cooperate.

Just had a go with my doppler and "half-pint" is kicking around and heart is beating well but my heart which is normally around 80bpm is 105 - i have phoned oh and if it gets into the 120's i will call the hosp. It is this pesky sometimes fast sometimes irregular heartbeat playing up. I wonder if it is the hot weather?

is the fact that the mattress is a few cms smaller all around something with the fact that you have liners on sides of moses basket and a sheet & moses basket cover? i imagine all this http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/0986423/Trail/searchtext%3EMOSES+BASKET.htm would take some tucking in. I am only saying because i had a similar problem with my cot mattress not quite fitting. I found one with a 1cm gap afterwards which was just right for blankets.

Evening ladies just checking in to see how you all are. It was OH birthday today so treated him to breakfast in bed and a home cooked roast it was yummy.
Killed me though i swear i can feel bubs head in my pelvis its kind of a strange heavy feeling like i have a bowling ball in my knickers makes moving about awfull.

Glam its probably is the RLT bringing on your BH ive been getting them more since drinking it too as you say not painfull but belly goes hard like stone and makes moving even more difficult.

Th perinium massage thing i was recommended to use olive oil but do you recon its safe to use the bio oil ?? I figure its designed to soften skin and make it more pliable so thought it might work better :-) x

Ooh good point I hadnt thought about that. The moses basket we have got has like a bumper round the head part too so I spose I need to leave some room for that (I took it out before measuring, doh!!). Maybe I ought to stick to the size that is on M&P website. It does say on there: Ensure that the size is correct by checking that any gaps at the sides or ends are less than 4cm to prevent little arms and legs becoming trapped.

Thats why i had to change my mattress booboo it was beacuse the gap was large and baby could get a limb stuck.
  • Everyone's been really chatty while I've been at work.

Tia- glad you're feeling not too bad. Any idea when little lady will be coming home? I bet you can't wait.

Suzy- sending you tons of labour vibes (still). I'm sure you'll be our next birth announcement on here!

Glam- love the bump. Still looks nice and neat and no stretch marks.

Harley- big grrr at Mothercare. I would be very tempted to spend the rest of the vouchers on cute baby outfits, but I am a shopaholic so ignore me.

Sure I had tons more to say but can't remember what......am selling my Isabella Oliver dress on eBay as I have no other occassions to where it and I'd rather have the cash to buy some more maternity bits to be honest :o
