  • Just wanted to pop in and say hi to all my girls. Started my new job three weeks ago and never have the time to go online at work anymore, and my evenings are even busier than before, despite giving up a shift at the pub. So am ashamed to say I haven't read a single post in all that time.

Won't be around for Rudolph day as going out for the day with new man. Don't think I've bought a single present but have still been religiously putting £1 a day into my sealed pot.

Anyway, it is definitely past my bed time, but I will endeavour to not go AWOL for another three weeks x

    Hi all
Whilst saying I didn't think I'd be doing anything Christmas related today as I'm helping my griend pack up to move - we have manage to find (in the depths of her attic) over 1000 christmas cards that ive picked up for her in sales over the past two years (she's now says she banning me from buying anymore).
Also went out to a boot fair (and got just before the rain stopped play) a make your own crackers set (makes 10 crackers) for 20p!!!!!!
My friend also picked up some Christmas cook books, and I'm going through them finding recipes to add to my Christmas planning folder!!!
:j Bought all my presents for this year (birthday and Christmas) now starting on next years!!:j

Hello friends and welcome to Mays Rudolph Club :)

Today is a day to celebrate festivities and most of all, indulge in some time to organise our special occasions for the year so that we can feel smug!
So, sit back with a hot chocolate and enjoy your day.. perhaps even pop in some marshmallows and a Christmas DVD!

    Your challenge today:

Take stock of your preparations so far by keeping clear, concise lists in your notebook:
+ Special occasions coming up and gifts/cards already bought/made.
+ A full list of all gifts you have bought so far so that you can see at a glance what you have.
+ A full list of half finished handmade projects and a further list of intended ideas!

If you have a sealed money tin, make a pledge to yourself today on something you will cut back on and add to your tin.

    Your challenge for the month:
    :beer:Fathers day - Sunday 21st June:beer:
'Anyone can be a father but it takes someone special to be a daddy'
Try to achieve a day this year that will be completely relaxed.
Buy/make your presents as soon as you can and post/brag about your ideas here.
List exactly how many dads you have to buy for (don't forget husbands!) and try to be as moneysaving as possible.

    We can do it!:T

    Ideas:
+Make the special dad in your life his favourite meal
+ How about a frame for his desk with a picture of his kids or their handprints
+ Do you have a private in-joke? Special Nicknames? Get a mug made!

    More ideas here:
    http://www.fathersdaycraftbox.com/

    Your requests:

    1) Non-alcoholic Baileys (Anglea... get this wrote down!)

1/2 cups whipping cream or coffee cream
1/4 can (14-ounce) sweetened condensed milk (NOT evaporated milk)
    1/2 tablespoons chocolate-flavored syrup
    1/2 teaspoons instant coffee
    1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1/8 teaspoon almond extract

    2) Projects (See below!)

    :rudolf:Reindeer Food:rudolf:

    Needed:
    Porridge Oats
    Your choice of container
Edible Sparklies (see cake making aisle)

There are many different ways to make reindeer food and I have been researching pictures to inspire us for our Christmas fayres and gifts.
Reindeer food is given to children so that they can spread it outside their doors on christmas eve as it will light the way for Santa's reindeers plus provide them some dinner :)

The general rule is oats plus edible glitter/something sparkly. PLEASE make sure your sparklys are edible as animals will eat the oats and become sick.

How about brown paper bags, stamped for an organic look?

If you have time you can even cut out Reindeer heads!

Cellophane bags and cones are cheap and quick but look professional:

I am going to go for this sort of look, I think:

The reindeer food will need to be made later on in the year but the labels can be printed out and matched with bags anytime, in preperation. Here is a label I have made for you:
    :rudolf:This label is 2 x 5 inches.

and a few I found on the internet:

    Oh I LOVE those whisks...

I am gonna update my xmas spreadsheet...

    Job done

much like a notebook but I have an excel spreadsheet which has diiferent TABBED sheets - cards to send, list of people to who I will give gifts, list of gifts bought and status (eg whether wrapped) and how much I have spent...
and I have renamed it and it's now called CHRISTMAS
Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY

Hello all - and better say 'Thanks' cos I keep forgetting to press the 'thankyou' button..........sorry:o

Mel -thanks for the link..........if our local toy shop can't help with the tunnel/cubes then I think this one will do:
    icon1.gif

Especially as his other grandad is a motor racing fanatic.............lol
Oh eck............can't type right to the edge of the page for some reason:confused:

Oh well - so far today not done a great deal except cover the inside of my shoe box with fabric and then I covered a hard back notebook A5 size with the bit left over............still got some more left but not enough for the other A5 notebook so I'll have to think of something else.
Bit annoyed with myself -now the shoe box is totally dried out some bubbles have appeared -obviously didn't put enough glue on:mad: Still, I like it and think I just might end up keeping it for myself.

Have checked my list of pressies got so far and list of 'stuff to do'.

Reindeer food - did that for little grandsons christmas eve box last year and told son he can refill it for this year.
All I did was put crushed up weetabix in an empty gravy granual tub that I'd decorated with christmas paper and a label from a web site with piccy of rudolph on the lid.
Has to be cheap and cheerful for me........and I mean really cheap !!...............lol

Snowman poo I'm not doing..........it's going to be 'snowballs' - probably marshmallows or white bon bons as they're a bit powdery. Doing them instead of pots of gold which I think I did for most folk last year and its the only alternative I can think of.

Thats about it I think...............sun's gone in and I've some plants to sort out later........hanging baskets are ready and waiting:rotfl:

    Mary

I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !
