Hi everyone. I'm visiting a friend today and using her laptop. I am STILL waiting for France Telecom to get me online. I have had so many problems with them; I insisted they find me a British person to help me and, with any luck, with her help, I'll be back with you all sometime this week. I have really missed you all and I have so much to catch up on. I'll read as many posts as I can while I have the chance!

I hope you are all well. Jean is keeping touch by phone, for which I'm really grateful. It's good to have a friend like her who has weathered French redtape!

I haven't done much knitting since I've been here - I've been unpacking, then I was unwell for about ten days, then DH's brother and family came to stay (which was a challenge seeing as the house is not really ready for guests yet!) and we are still organising the place. I have just been through my wool and patterns and will start knitting again today. I've really missed it.

Anyway, I'll have a read of the last few days on here and I really hope to be back with you all very soon.

    Take care, everyone.

    love

    Hi Pam,
Thanks for the crochet challenge, I am going to have a go later, it's all still new for me but I like a challenge and I really am keen to learn crochet.

One question - what is worsted wool? I know I'm probably having a dumb moment but I have seen it mentioned a lot and I don't know what it is.

    Thanks, Eve.x

spent yesterday evening ironing school and work uniforms for DH and the kids in readyiness for todays restart. they have all gone which means im back to work as well today, also got to blitz the boys rooms as the glazier is round this afternoon to look at the window.

started a little 2ply square to use up whats left of the ball id done the robe in its not huge but ive got some pale blue 4ply so i could add an edge and corner triangle i that to make a little hooded blanket square.

nice to see you posting kathy i hope you get sorted very soon and are coming in via your own connection.

no wool purchases at the car boot, saw one guy selling but te were cones or remnants and he wanted too much for them to tempt me.

hi all - this will be my last post for a few days until i can either find an internet cafe in france or i can beg the use of a friends internet.

the weather in france is going to be horrid, so maytaurus, could i take just a little sunshine with me please? i have packed the pink boxing gloves, but have just been told that FT cannot yet tell me when they will come and do the installation, they will let me know in due course. they dont seem to understand that i wont be there after next tuesday night, so even if they go there - it will be a wasted journey and i will not be paying them for their time.

oh well, its time that i went to pack my bag - i have loads of english things that you can only buy from one shop in our area - everything seems to have the same price though, €3.50 - marmite, choccie digestives, weetabix - and those prices are way too much for me to consider paying.

have a lovely day, and hope you get some knitting/crocheting in.

    hugs all around.

according to this chart light worsted is the same as DK, i think its an american term like we have 2ply 4 ply DK etc.

im sure someone cleverer will be along soon to give a fuller answer but i hope this is enough to be going on with;)

  • Rushed visit during lunch, hope everybody had a great weekend and some sunshine to brighten up their days. Managed one boobie, three vent hats and a couple of Innocent smoothie hats over the weekend, not too much knitting as I am trying to do a load of Lady Products (ST's) for the Algerian Action charity via Loving Hands summer challenge. I have taken a leaf out of Mrs moneypenny's book and raided the linen chest, so a lot of re-cycling going on.
Maytaurus -I can't think of a time when I have been without a dog for long - at the moment I have Boab(M)-blue heeler about 14 years- he walked into my life one wet morning while I was still shedding buckets at the loss of my yellow lab; and baby Valkyrie (F) Neopolitan mastiff, that no one else wanted, 4 years and approximately 80Kilos- she replaced my MIL's yorkshire TERRORIST- which I inherited along with the MIL. Both are diggers............think they are heading for OZ by the depth of the holes they leave in the fields, but I would never swap them and they give me a great deal of pleasure
Back to the sewing machines - I promise its only for one day then back on the knitting - may even try that crochet challenge

    Freecycle Rocks !!!
I joined my local freecycle group last week when we got back from Spain and explained I knitted for charity and a lady offered a bag of wool and buttons today
Well I picked it up and there must be over £200 of wool in the bag and about 200 buttons--- how generous is that. I am soooo happy. It will keep me going for ages and I will probably take some back to the Spanish knitting group to thank them for all their efforts:A

Funnily enough I am really having a clear out at home at the moment and took a bag of bits and pieces to the Charity shop. Of course me eyes just went to the woll box and there were about 50 skeins of tappestry wool -- really small ones and I explained I knitted for charity and asked how much each small skein was ( they would have been ideal for Smoothie hats ) anyway she said 40p each. I was really shocked as I had seen them for 50p in our local dept store!!

Anyway don't need to worry now ,just need more hours in the day to knit !!
    Have good evenings everybody

Tight As -- My post office is like that and it drives me mad !!
Try and do a good deed every day.
