  • Lucie - my heart goes out to you today, it's going to be hard for a while
sending you love and great big cuddles - and a wee poem I had sent to me

They will not go quietly, the dogs who've shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know their spirit still survives.
Old habits still make us think we hear a barking at the door.
Or step back when we drop a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place the food dish used to be,
And, sometimes, coming home at night, we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts belongs to them........
    and always will.

Poor Lucie. So sorry to hear your sad news.
  • Linda - it was great talking to you on the phone this morning - your trauma toys look great - I do love the funky chunky guys with the 'hair' - bet kids will love them too :D Actually we have started to deliver these to ambulance crews across the country and most of them have only occaisionally seen trauma toys so are delighted to be given these from us :T

Kelly took some over to Balforn with her on her holiday and when she came back yeterday she said the ambulance man she handed them too thought she wanted paid for them and he was so thrilled when she explained they were a gift from Loving Hands - isn't that nice :j

This morning I have delivered 11 big black bags frull of itmes for the elderly to the Blythswood van and posted 4 huge boxes of boobs - 3 to Tommee Tippee for the next round of baby shows (we love this project as it is definitely 'pay it forward' we make the boobs, Avril takes them to the baby shows, the midwives put a donation in the can in exchange for the boobs (latex ones cost them £32 each so popping a pound or two in a can for enough to cater for a breastfeeding class is brilliant), the money in the cans is donated to breast cancer charity and Avril then sends us big boxes of baby items from Tommee Tipeee which we can send on to our overseas charities (like Linda Macdonald and Algerian Action) - we have sent them over 400 in the past few months but they are always needing more. The fourth box went to a midwife who had requested some directly for a class.

Now we have to wait for DHL to come and pick up 5 large boxes for Algerian Action, 4 for Linda Macdonald and 5 for ambulance crews and I will then have some space! (for 5 minutes)

My DH is getting there with the bathroom - we should be able to use the new shower by Thursday and hopefully by the end of the weekend it will be done and dusted - thank goodness :T

Then he will hopefully finish flooring the loft as we are getting to use it for our store room as well - he has widened the hatch and put in a decent loft ladder that Kelly can manage to get up and down easily and we can store extra materials and stuffing etc up there. Can't wait - once we get LH headquarters clear enough we can get it decorated and the new furniture built up and installed - every time I see signs of a space clearing though another dozen parcels or boxes turn up and bingo we are back to organised chaos again

Diana - so sorry about the window - your poor wee boys they must have been so frightened - just glad it didn't go right through and neither of them were physically hurt.

So glad you are all keeping busy and we are very grateful that so many of you are helping out with our challenges etc. Remember the other wish list items are always needed too so if there is nothing in the challenges you like you can always carry on with boobs, baby clothes, clothing for the elderly etc - we can find homes for everything here :D

  • So sorry about your dog - we lost our darling Chance who was a rescued lab just over a year ago and I must admit when I ready Jean's poem there the tears were rolling down my face - we do often wish we had another lab but we have two great muckle Irish Setters still and they are a handful by themselves.

Keep your chin up - it does get easier - we all went through it with Sylvia a couple of weeks back - the ladies on LH forum are lovey - just like here - and always there when anyone needs a shoulder :0)
