Much as I like the ethos of Ebico, it really is naughty to take the 2 of the most expensive tariffs available and use those for comparison purposes, without any explanation.
That is exactly the sort of tactic that Utility Warehouse uses and attracts so much justified criticism. Their 'triple guarantee' is against BG's standard tariff and excludes direct debit and dual fuel discounts.
Do your savings exclude those discounts?
Anyone who follows energy prices is aware that your gas tariff is quite competitive - very competitive for low users paying quarterly.
You electricity prices are simply not competitive except for the very low users.0 -

Funnily enough, I remember someone else doing exactly that to justify an 'I'm in profit after 12 months' claim for their BG Fixed 2010 tariff so it's an easy mistake to make.
For once I agree with Hugh, though, it's a particular hollow claim to make and doesn't reflect very well on your supposed ethical company stance. Can this privatised energy industry get any more depressing?Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -

If you could email your details to info@ebico.co.uk we'll speak to Southern Electric to get the issue resolved. I've spoken to customer services here and advised them that you'll be emailing in and it'll be looked into right away. Thanks.
Many thanks Lauren, I've just emailed through the details so hopefully it'll all be sorted soon.0 -
The prices will take effect on the 30th March. I'm sorry that you are not entirely satisfied with this, but this is the earliest we are able to reduce the prices
ROFL
But when you increase prices it is instant.
Your company is shameless,Just like the rest
of the utility companies.
Pensioners are dying from the cold just because of
your greed and lust for massive profit and pay for
your managment.
How you people can live with yourselves knowing your sending
people to their graves through total greed is beyond me.0 -

Grrr. Forum etiquette forbids the only appropriate reply to this idiotic, offensive post.0 -
Pensioners get from £250 to £400 a year help with the heating, plus even more in cold weather if they are eligible.
OAP's need clearly laid out tariffs and terms, and it is
confusion marketing that is killing the pensioners.
Ebico are to be applauded for their simple pricing.0 -
Here at Ebico we always aim to treat people fairly regardless of usage or payment method. We are a non profit making organisation - there are no shareholders, and any surplus that is made goes into the Ebico Trust for Sustainable Development. One of our key aims has always been to help those using prepayment meters and offer them the same tariffs as those paying by monthly direct debit. We've helped a lot of people over the years and hope to continue to do so with our fair prices and using the trust fund in future projects.
I'm really just here to resolve any issues that MSE users may have, and I'm happy to respond to any concerns people have about prices, but if you have a complaint I'd appreciate it if these were sent directly to us to be resolved.
I agree with Ken about the confusing markets that prevent some eldery people from switching, even though there are better deals for them. We're currently doing some market research into barriers that put people off switching suppliers, and will act accordingly once we have the results.“Official Verified Account

Erm. Ebico is a not for profit company....
... and the company's independently audited accounts show that there are no fat cat management at ebico. (according to another forum member who checked)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
