clubcar points for recycling marion? do share! I use my clubcard plus to build up for hols too. I like the sound of your simple life.

.... MrsA and I are gearing up for our freebie holiday in Spain in September, courtesy of clubcard points. Combined price of the holiday was £1356, and didn't cost a cent :D
ajax, she did manage to pinch at least some of the bits you are thinking about. Hence the squealing.

KPC Look out for Tseco's with recycling machines, ours are at our Tesco extras, I love it because my council don't collect plastic so can take all mine there and while i'm there I take my tins too. You get 1 point for every 4 items recycled.

Here the SW carrot cake recipe:
    • 4 scan bran (crushed) – I have replaced this with 50g natural wheat bran (so no, not the cereal ‘all bran’. Bought a bag of Jordans natural wheat bran (100% wheat bran and nothing else – look a bit like sawdust) from asda – 375g for 41p.
    • 1 crushed weetabix
    • 5oz grated carrot
    • 2 tbsp mincemeat (measuring spoons)
    • 1 tbsp runny honey
    • 3 beaten eggs
    • 1tsp cinnamon
    • 1tsp nutmeg
    • 1tsp mixed spice
    Mix all ingredients together.
I then cook in a lined 2lb bread tin

Original cooking instructions were: 180c/350F/gas mk4. Cook covered with foil 30 mins, remove foil for another 30 mins. I find with my oven (Fan oven 175c) I cook covered 18mins, uncovered 18 mins.

Cut cake into 8 slices = 2 syns per slice. Comes out a bit bread puddingy. We really like it and it makes a cook caky treat in lunch boxes etc. Using scan bran it was synned at 12.5 syns per cake rather than my 16. But it is so vastly cheaper using the bran (6p for the bran rather than 45p for scan bran if buying through SW.

Perhaps you can return the favour by letting me know what a clubcard is:o (Is it tesco related? We don't have a tesco that near us)

Marion - do ramble more often please:D , you are always interesting. Where do you get all your food vouchers from. And are these normally for brand food?

PCL - really sorry you've been poorly. I've taken you off the chart - well done for recognising your danger signals. You are still very much part of this forum -the chart isn't obligatory and several regular members have chosen not to be on it.
Great news on the bike efrieze - a good investment in your health
I wished I lived nearly some ot these events you go to kpc - they sound great. As for undressing Mr Darcy - as long as he looks remarkably like colin firth, yes please:D

Bb, Clubcard is Tesco's 'reward' scheme. You collect a point for every pound spent, and there are ways to collect extra points too. When converted into "Clubcard Deals" these points quadruple in value, so you can swap them for stuff like days out, holidays etc. We got joint RAC full monty cover for £40 worth of clubcard vouchers

Sounds great. Pity no convenient tesco's, but I've also started doing food shopping from local greengrocers and butchers so only pick up bits and pieces from a supermarket now anyway.

There are all sorts of codes dotted around this site and others for extra points - you just enter the code at the online checkout. Eg 1000 extra points when you spend £xx - just the points alone is 'worth' £40 in deals.

My favourite was 1000 extra points when you buy any 12 bottles of wine. They had some bottles of plonky bucks fizz at 99p each, so ordering 12 of these was £11.88 + £4.99 delivery = £16.87. My mate gave me the £16.87 and had them for budget 'toast' use in his pub, and I got the £40 in deals. Did that on about 5 different clubcards :rotfl: Puerto Banus here we come!!!

Good news too folks... from today MrsA is now discharged from outpatients after her nightmare 8 months, and will be allowed to have a drink on Saturday. I can't see me losing weight next week :D

You lot are sooo good with ideas and stuff, I thought I'd ask.

Remember last week I said I was gonna be best man later this year? Well, I need an idea for a wedding present as I can't think of anything myself. It has to be a bit of a gesture one as well  - macho retaliation as this guy bought me a number plate  for my wedding present.

Budget is about £500, maybe a bit over for the perfect gift. I know it's extravagant but he started it :D . Something unique would be ideal.

    Any ideas?

    Thank yer very glad.

i have a couple of ideas for you the most obvious is a dirty weekend :p or my brother who is a photographer used to enlarge a wedding picture to massive size get an expensive frame and mount and then throughout the day he would get everyone who attends the wedding to sign round the mount with good luck messages and its something unique they can keep forever.

Thanks Lainie. They would usually be two great ideas but this fella doesn't really go for the picture thing, and is also paranoid about leaving his pub if we go out for an afternoon, so I just can't imagine him leaving it for a weekend as well as his honeymoon in the same decade :)
  • Hi everyone,
Just a quick post to say that I have got away with just a 1lb gain this week. It could have been much worse especially as yesterday it would have been 5lbs! Most of it must have been water, so I guess either it wasn't a real gain or it wasn't a real loss depending on which way I look at it!
