May even be the one that tech sends out now and then to try and resolve issues that occur with agents for some reason.
  • I've had the same error message about the router etc and followed the advice on the threads to get a router....I am with AOL and have the BT voyager 190 ADSL so i've bought a wireless all in one router it says 'ADSL2' it says that it has an in-built DSL modem will this not work? I think i've just wasted £45 and i'm back on my modem at the moment because trying to get the router to connect to aol has been a total nightmare :(:(:(:(

  • You must have a local router between you and the internet to run the Workbooth Software. It seems that your IP Address is a direct connection to the internet. Either disable this connection, or place a router between it and the Internet

Ive connected using wireless ADSL router but i am still getting the above message :( Anybody got any ideas?

I've tried disabling the wireless connection, changing the router IP address range now i'm stomped am i missing something? Do i need to change settings with the router its adsl does that matter? Sorry i'm sooooooo confused is there a connection i need to disable?

    You have PM kate
  • I'm getting VERY concerned now. I've been trying to contact Ellen for over a week. I have my Basic Disclosure here and don't know what to do with it. I have not had any response to any emails and livechat can't help. I've emailed the HBO email address and they just said they would remind her, but still nothing. I was supposed to have recieved a disk and some paperwork but haven't. It all seems to be a bit of a mess.
  • Thanks Oliver i've just replied :D

    katieshopstoomuch-

i use aol and have the same modem/router your talking about. i had the same message come up when i took the pc test. i didnt change any settings on the router or do anything, like you i was going out of my mind too.
all i did was explain it to my agent. she still sent out the workbooth cd and now that error message doesnt show up.
im not sure why this pc test points out this error but to be honest i would first tell your agent and ask her to send you the workbooth cd anyway. im sure you wont get that problem on the cd.

After a fair bit of brainstorming me and Kate worked out the issue.

When you sign into the AOL service on your PC you are creating
in effect a VPN tunnel connection to the AOL servers, AOL assign
you a 172.x.x.x IP address and this is what upsets the PC assessment test

The fix is to simply not sign into AOL and use Internet Explorer,
because as Kate was using an adsl router she already had an internet
connection and didn't actually need to sign into the AOL service to access
    the internet

Of course when you run the workbooth CD you don't need to worry about this as
it runs from its own operating system, but generally you will need to pass the PC assesment before TT would be willing to send you Workbooth CD.
