Barclays mortgage valuations... which company?
Does anyone know what company Barclays use for their property valuations, and whether I (as the customer) would have any say in who goes out? The reason, I'm buying a new build and the developer won't allow Connells on site (because of their reputation to downvalue - which I understand). I've had a mortgage application in…

Tricky situation with mortgage and moving
Hiya, We're currently coming to the end of our fixed term 2% and they're moved us onto the variable rate of 8.7% with Halifax!! We initially thought this was the best plan as we'll most likely be going with NatWest for the new house (which we haven't found yet). NatWest take our foster allowance into account so give us a…

Does no lender now offer competitive rates for offset, or even offset at all? First Direct?
I cannot find any. It seems scottish widdows and first direct no longer do... In addition, is there any point in First Direct, every product they offer is really not competitive at all.

How much can I borrow calculators accuracy
Are those calculators actually accurate or should you reach out to the bank directly? They only take into account income and not credit score or any other details so it does not feel like this is accurate. Do I need to go into a branch and talk to them if I want a good estimate?

Bluestone Mortgages
Hi All, We've recently received a DIP with Bluestone, my credit file is in a terrible state and to be quite honest, I firmly believe our broker performed nothing short of a miracle to pull this off! Advantage of remortgaging to buy second home?
Hi, I'm trying to understand the difference between these two situations. Suppose I own a house outright (worth 100) and have 20 in cash. If I want to buy a second home that's also worth 100 without selling my first one, I can either: * Use a single mortgage to buy the second home, with 20 in deposit and 80 in mortgage…

Mortgages and relocation
Hello. I'm in a jam. I have a flat in London that has cladding issues and no ESW1. I have permission to rent it out as I've waited seven years for the intrusive survey. I would like to relocate and buy a house. I have a pretty decent deposit and good credit but I was rejected because they suspected I wanted to rent it out.…

When to get a mortgage?
I want to buy a house this year and have been told that the interest rates will go down soon so I am happy to wait. However I checked the Bank of England interest rates and noticed that it is a lot higher right now than it was last year or the year before. Does this not mean that it is literally the worst time to borrow?…

Hi does anyone out there know if Melton Mowbray allow PDL’s on their credit assist products? My broker is talking of looking at them. I can see on their normal products it says any evidence of PDL’s will lead to a decline but I can’t work out if that is all products or excludes the credit assist products I know you’ll say…

Borrow more than purchase price
Long story short - agreed to buy family house for 40k (it is worth 120k) but it needs a lot of work. I’m a FTB. I asked the mortgage advisor if I can get a mortgage to do this and he advised I cannot mortgage and remortgage at the same time, which is effectively what I’m trying to do. I can however take out a mortgage for…
