    A week of considerable sorts,

1....continuing now from lazy lie-in &bed, with fresh hwb! For &, this is decadence. Sloverly:-)
P.s. - which suddenly looks like 'slovenly'. Both true:-)

    2. Spits, managed somehow. Increasing negativity(were it possible),<buyers+sellers. Neighbour, female, 40s, concussed by hefty shelf 1st thing. Earnings darned hard well-earnt. Some lovely peeps for oddest sales. Not bringing that 60s Keramik tile/wrought iron side table back again = huge hooray. So pleased when objêts de vertu and perfect fit new owners find each other. Fair banking banked, gratefully. Some £wapping for interest extras.

    3. But, starting sentence with deictic preposition, Heaven Forfend, somewhere btwn Fens and Spits, lies left lens of &'s bi-focals. Might be in &stock. Osp: screw still in place, means replacement is f.o.c., just 2wks short of guarantee expiry.

    4. Tutoring postponed last night. Clash with mthly LP mtg. High feelings. Much emoting. A pleasing something re: Eddie Izzard.....on verra.

    5. Yule Fuel marmalade mulching. Juiced and gutted and chopped and panned and watered and Famously Groused by 1a.m. Now it sits for 36hrs.
    #
Rugby anticipations :-) Big auction to view. Knowledge that little Meriva will start well with new battery. Might rise any moment now...but new hwb does feel so good:-)

    Enjoy your weekends, recalibrate.

& is also keen to see Paddington II. Last one with newly-released young person. That Life continues well.

    6. Really laughoutloud moments earlier, with a R4 boaty mcboatface story on Doncaster's 2 new snow ploughs. Please look it up:-))). Will try and post if links allow later.

mhagster that sounds a corker of a wedding! Meanwhile all the very best with the boxes & hurrah for Haggis keeping you aired & walked no matter what the weather.
Mrs LW the Sea Scouts Jumble Sale has me whimpering - I do love a good jumble sale & for some reason (carboots?) they seem to have fallen right out of style. I salute your devoted suport to the cause!
Ampersand - the Doncaster snow ploughs are just glorious! I might almost join Twitter for that sort of fun.

OS Pleasures in the last week & a bit
Ah QI - and oh gods, eggs are in for an experimental time... Crawfish whistling on the mountain sounds like a radio passcode. The musical round has resulted in me being tasked with sourcing a CD of western movie themes...

Found misplaced Asda savings card - in time, o frabjous day....!

As car going to garage, sort of cleared out. The Roman lucky charm is staying in place as it has a fan club amongst the mechanic fraternity. [Car now sorted, cleared kit now safe somewhere - where o where has my satnav gone?!]

Researching the crawfish thing (when crawfish whistle in the mountain) I found 'Когда рак на горе свистне' - (well, you never know when some truly Odd password comes in handy). The first word triggered a hazy memory of Russian word svyegda (свегда for any purists amongst us if MSE anti-virus code permits) 'when' or possibly 'after' (my Russian had not aged well). Turns out I was remembering vsyegda (всегда) meaning 'always'. When next I see my father I must ply him with a tot of the creature & invite him to refresh my memory as I recall him *singing* this word (giving the vowels plenty, like any classic crooner) & hear the rest of this (I suspect touching) love song. Despite their literature, the Russians can be wildly sentimental... [Perhaps fortunately, when I did see him we had guests or were otherwise Rather Busy, but next time...]

Remembrance Parade with Scouts. Familiar across decades, the desperate ironing & polishing in preparation & ultimately the pride, fighting against the cold. Feeling distinct envy as parents swoop with cries of praise & warm coats for scouts! [So far, no one has offered to Adopt A Leader.]

Husband having got a 1:35 scale model from a cs & is now chirping at the many & varied accessories on eBay. You can indeed get model snacks, cans of soda, bottled water & (the inevitable) razor wire... It's not unlike Barbie, but still less MS!

I do love the NHS. Lady mother is awaiting surgery & getting exceedingly bored. So much so, she got out of bed & did yoga, which caused a huge panic as they thought she was having a seizure & she gave them a worked demonstration of the 'Pose of the Cat' whilst complaining of boredom... [Just Gone In! And come back out although I think the Hokey Cokey is Off for a few months, as the surgeon raided both tibia & the other hip for bone to restore specific function to the ankle.]

Sister & I discussed diet for a colonoscopy when a lactose intolerant vegan. Everything I could remember, she can't have anyway, so I've steered her back to her GP for further dietary advice, but encouraged her as to the overall virtue of the procedure. Also about the virtues of 'Which?', as a tool to inform the consumer. (Wider ranging than usual sisterly chat, but m'father [eavesdropping shamelessly - clearly a family habit] clearly intends to bid her "Talk To Your Sister!" before White Goods shopping.)

Admiring a lass on the train's hair - not flaming red but glorious fireside hues of copper & brass & brunette & autumn leaves & newly tanned leather - a joy to see.

Least expected luggage - a suitable for the under 18 months rocking "horse" in the shape of a bowler-hatted ladybird, piled on top of a suitcase, expanding day bag & copy of the Evening Standard. No sign of its intended user but the chap lugging it had family member stamped all over him (possibly big brother, but not at all Big Brother.)

Going over old photos with mum - it's lovely to 'meet' relatives when they were young!

Cat making noises - "oh I don't notice, he does that sort of thing!" - I pointed out I ran the same policy with teenage boys & my ailing-but-game mother chortled.

Oh my scouts! Noisy critters & one, helping run a game was awed at the racket. Then *stunned* to hear we leaders are all volunteers! You couldn't pay me to do this....

Had an oddly touching bonding chat with a slightly over-tired scout - once gentled past overloaded tears, we talked travel - his three things he'd bring back from Paris are the Louis Vuitton shop (& all contents!), the Eiffel Tower & a palace/castle he saw at one end of the major shopping streets. I'm not up on Parisian geography but we didn't think it was Versailles, but slightly more bijou. He may grow into an MS soul but right now he loves designer labels...

Anna Pavord on Desert Island Disks - the silhouette of trees in winter being a very special treat - yes, absolutely. That there is a globe flower on the Sugar Loaf Mountain came as news but would I have recognised it, leaping from tussock to tussock of heather? We looked for white heather & blaeberries, but much of her childhood rings changes of bells. (As an Oxford daughter, to me Abergavenny was a treat...)

The block of flats that gave me the wheelbarrow is busy again as the ground floor is being fitted out for something. Long lancet windows do leave me wondering *what* but the inadvertent & changing displays of coffee cups, gaffer tape, a pencil - things are growing in there!

I do love teapoint philosophy. "The guy's worth 650 million!" "Yes, but it isn't Enough..." "But?" "You'd start with wanting a round figure, then another zero & it still wouldn't be." "But?!" "Then family, wives, children - no..." <deflationary collapse of agreement>

Mother has been given a new painkiller, something-or-other-norm. It's working, hurrah, but all sorts of daft jokes about "our Ma left giddy by young Norm" & "Ma & Norm having fun in bed" are happily circulating...

Eric & Ernie & Miss Fielding. I had to park up so I could laugh in comfort & safety. Not wholly convinced Nelson was All Man - missing bits of leg, arm & an eyeball if I recall my history but Miss Fielding as All Woman? And how! Quite why I sense Ampersand could inflect thusly I'm not entirely sure, but is that just me?

Ah, the seasonal silly hats are in. Grinning over doting (& MS) mamas who array the infant confined in shopping trolley, take phone snaps crooning, & replace the headgear on the rack...

The touchingly disappointed tone in youngest's voice when he realises he is too late to help unload the shopping from the car & thus does not get to lock the boot. I find his enchantment in this task a true OS pleasure, but like so many pleasures it has a kick to it, as I still expect help unpacking the shopping & putting it away.

"Nothing bring the family together like movies at Christmas". Oh yes, Aliens, Serenity, Terminator - nothing like a good moral shoot-'em-up with messy set pieces to unite the chaps at the festive season!

Friendly Belgian brought my parents an assortment of beers. They in turn have donated them to the education of the young, so I'll be watching teenagers try to develop a taste for Belgian beer. [Total fail, but perhaps the cherry flavoured stuff wasn't quite the right one to start on?]

Waitrose Christmas bags for life in! Y'know the best OS pleasures are often free too, but I think for 10 pence with free coffee, bags for life are wildly underrated.

Longstanding fan of Boston Dynamics - loved Big Dog and just awed at the new "human style" atlas! I just hope the engineering can trickle sideways into prostheses research & not pure military applications.

Right. Loins to be girded, the tall to be recruited - excavating the Christmas preparations & assembling Christmas presents is about to break out. I may be some time & please close your ears to unfestive and unbecoming language. Humming Stille Nacht with snatches of vsyegda- the silly season is definitely with me.
Health, strength, hot water bottles (sloverly/slovenly/Splendid!), courage patience & all sorts of other good things be with you all as needed!

Rugby on the television last night, fab game and well worth the watching and very exciting!

    Glawster!
5 Watched Glawster on the box of oggle last eve, together with wobbleades to make it go! Oh what a win. Noiw watching the gooners and we has just gun two up.

4 Fixed downbstair loo this morning and it is back to being used by the BoP. BoPsie was upset as she expects a few nice words said! Tough, I am a man of mant talents!

3 Breakfast was best back with apple pork snorkers, served with star cut grilled toms and mushrooms. poached egg was topped! Tum was again rubbed!

2 Bite as it was cold around the palace of the BoP last night, hence watched the rugby, BoP and BoPsie should eventually get inn town and watch Paddington!
Talking about it does make it ease!

    1. Mushroom and chickpea stroganoff simmering in slow cooker, ready for din dins

    2. Cauli soup for lunch - already made and waiting in a small pan to heat on stove for lunch. Have frozen rest for work lunches.

    3. Lovely DH is putting away all laundry upstairs - my least favourite job in the world!

    4. NO PLANS this weekend - we can stay in our nest :)

    5. Have phoned to arrange 2 more quotes for windows. We have a 120yr old draughty wooden sash in the living room that needs refurb/replace and a horrid aluminium jobby upstairs that I want replacing with wooden sash. Looks like it'll be 5 thousand squids. That's a lot of squids, but I'm excited to get it done. Have dreams of leaning out of bedroom window to water a window box :D

What a lovely festive post DfV :)

    1. Colleague gave me a bottle of prosecco, duly drunk last night with KW, to celebrate the fab feedback given to me by Head from her and Mr Ofsted following my maths lesson. Ya boo sucks to her! I CAN do it!

    2. Feeling blissfully happy that my mojo appears, in a large way, to have returned to me. Amazing what can happen in a week, eh!?

    3. YS vegetarian pies and cauliflower cheese from Aldi, I treated KW to a nice meal after his very long day working 2 jobs :)

Can't think of any more, probably because I'm shattered and I'm having "fun" planning so that DD and I can have a great mummy-daughter day tomorrow :)

Kk, just want to quickly say F!licitations AND, what else would we expect.
Really enjoy your weekend now, all 3 of you.

Reporting live from The Alma...this match is the curtain raiser for &, who is refereeing nicely in the faultless kiwi whistle of Dr Bernard O'Keeffe, ophthalmic surgeon and rather beautiful Dan Carter close-alike.

In The Alma are many teams in full dress besties - the Knights Templar have been much lead in frequent song by chesty Boudicca.....

We're all helping tmo....try, or no try.
    Back later :-))))))
    #
....and did & not say Albion are going to SCORCH these last 5 mins?
    & is RIGHT.

Come on, you know you can hear the singing from here........

Saturday evening and blooming chilly, just been a dog walk , arrived back home at precisely the same time as my takeaway!

    Painting! Sigh. Ongoing...

Post on a Saturday , how novel! My Australian Country Style magazine just posted by DD1 on Monday and a wee newsy postcard from her too.

More mail for tenants so we walked down to post box and sent it back.

Friend brought me stuff from ikea. Did my first ever flat pack, whilst hardly rocket science was a bit trying! But I did it!

Also got a wee desk for my study nook aka cupboard under the stairs.

And some candles...burning brightly in my front window in 3 gallon sized pickle jars all the way from Melbs!

    Quick chat with my sister.

Being a faraway mummy. DD2 had called me in tears as her poo head of an ex boyfriend has been back in touch. Pleasure being that she could just get in touch.

    Have a good night .

Well done KK ! See we knew you'd be fine!

1 A lovely lazy day, our Poppet decided I needed to wake up and snuffled both of my ears to make sure I woke up. We had grilled bacon and tomato in a wrap for brunch, and a sneaky slice of leftover Costco pizza was a late lunch.
2 DH and I spent a few hours in the kitchen, he chopped a lot things for the dehydrator and also made the chicken treats for the animals, while I cooked up a batch of mince with a lot of rtc onions, peppers, courgettes and carrots using up some dehydrated toms and various things, I created 2 lasagnes, and 2 cheesy potato mince creations, enough for us for 4 days all from scratch. Then I cooked up some diabetic friendly low carb coconut flour brownies, for fun. Tomorrow we will be a damson jam batch and prawn curry.
3 We both sat and watched Thunderbirds, and Paul O’ Grady’s dogs with a cuppa for a break.
4 I’ve found a set of Christmas led lights which I think DH will love in a black Friday deal, so I am going to treat him to them, short storey I love the multi coloured ones but he prefers the clean white or blue lights.
5 We counted up the vet fund and while it’s done OK, we need to take it up a notch so weekly savings are now in place.
6 Facepack and nails all done.
