Back in Blighty, back to rain and mist. Yesterday and Riyadh seem a lifetime ago. Yesterday started with
1) a lie in as meeting not till afternoon. Breakfast was 6:30- 10:30 so we met at 9:30 which meant alarm at 9. Bliss
2) light lunch, great meeting then back to hotel to pack, change to Blighty clothes (all is hidden by the abaya, it has its advantages!) another meeting then off to the airport
3) dinner in the club lounge, slept on the plane (business class), woken with a cup of tea by lovely steward
4) prof colleague signed me into the 1st class lounge at Heathrow - eggs benedict and pink champagne
5) flight to Edinburgh (did the telegraph cryptic), prof drove me home, quick hello to mrpiano before he left for work, 2mugs of tea, bubble bath and bed. The boys are pleased to see me :-)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

I think today can be described as wet!
Painted from 9-3 with a half hour dog walk in between.
One room finished & another one started. Sigh!
Big walk via cash line to pay for my IKEA purchases. Walked up to friends house & caught her just as she was going out. Don't like owing money.
Was supposed to be going out tonight but I've pulled out as not feeling 100%
In Australia it's my daughters 21st birthday. It's the first without me and her first without her dad:( they are all going out for brunch.
Early night tonight for me0 -
1 Worked at home, delivered all the deliverables, confirmed my holiday dates and signed off for the next 2 days.
2 Pizza for lunch bad but good.
3 Leftover chicken cooked through with veggies for dinner turned into a curry with brown rice, a half portion for me and whole for DF, for me I am dieting as I’m getting near to my weight goal and I really want to get there now, I’ve had enough of it lurking about. The positive I’ve lost 2 stone so far this year, I’d like to make it a bit more over the next 4 weeks.
4 Maintained the washing machine, pleasure to know it’s done, and hoovered then washed the floors to get the house up to at least basically clean for a few mins.
5 About to send back DFs present that arrived today but it’s not right, at least it’s easy to return.0 -
1. Work went really well today. I hosted an internal upskilling event and about 50 people came - feedback was excellent and one of the Directors nominated me for an internal award for organising it all. Glad it's over though, I can catch up with my actual job tomorrow!
2. They gave us baked spuds for lunch at work today (whole company 'does lunch', which is usually a buffet, every month) including vegan chilli - yay. There were loads of spuds left over, wrapped in foil, so I took two and shoved them on top of the stroganoff in the slow cooker to reheat whilst we went running.
3. Went for a 10km run with DH, at running club. Managed to pace the leader the whole time - last week I really struggled!
4. Mushroom and chickpea stroganoff with chopped spuds was lovely. Like a spicy wintery stew. Finished the meal with some tinned apricots and soya yoghurt.
5. Now going to watch a silly comedy on iPlayer and hop in the bath after DH - will be bliss on my aching thighs and calves!0 -
Good evening everyone :hello:
Been on a course today, so wearing jeans... makes me feel so naughty on a school day.Simple things, eh?! :rotfl:
Pleasures:
1) Early train up to Leeds and because I'd booked via Virgin trains, I got a free wifi code. Watched some of their programmes. Perfect!
2) Free lunch. Well, incorporated as part of the course but I made the most of it!
3) Ironing - DH has done it!
4) My mum had finished with a recent (still on sale) magazine... so gave it to me! Yay!
5) I'm a Celebrity. More of a guilty pleasure than an OS pleasure...Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Snap. VickyA! I was on a course as well today
1. Really interesting course, even if it has increased my workload a lot, as I have a lot to implement.
2. The prospect of claiming back the mileage for going to the course!
3. Great chatting to other people on the course, and yummy lunch.
4. ExOH has finally paid maintenance for November.
5. Seeing KW tomorrow.0 -
Good Morning!
Busy RL......need to list pleasures before I forget
Sunday
1. Collected DD BF from the airport. They are both v happy to be reunited
2. Took BF to German Market for hot chocolate while DD went to an audition. He is lovely!
3. A few bargains at the supermarket always cheers me up. Especially if that emporium is W8rose :j I did well with my 20% off pick your own and Sainsbury's to spend my double up nectar voucher on Xmas fizz.
4. Roast Dinner for tea. DD spotted the Xmas fizz, so we had to sacrifice a bottle to welcome the BF.
5. So tired after day of Mum and Dad Taxi service, that we fell into bed and slept all night!
Monday
1. I have now worn all the pairs of boots which I have rescued from DS1 GF. They all fit, and I am now the Emelda Marcos of the boot world!
2. DS2 got a lift with DH, so I went the shorter route to work.
3. Made 4 more Xmas wreaths after school. We have orders, but my horticulture group are not working fast enough!
4. Chicken Kiev for tea. Everyone ate it.
5. DD and BF went out. They called an UBER, so no Mum and Dad taxi! DH and I managed to watch a couple of Travel Man, and Peaky Blinders. I quilted 2 sections of my quilt. So nice.
Have a lovely day0 -
Mhags feel better soon. Happy birthday to DD.
1. Saw a manager at a site that they never go to and made my point that it is cold by sitting doing letters in my coat! I think it made the point as my colleague next door was wearing two jumpers. We didn't know she was coming.
2. Left at a reasonable time and arrived home at same time as neighbour so had a quick chat as it was dry at the time.
3. DS2 cooked a Jamie Oliver 30 minute chicken pie. It was good but the best was him running round the kitchen to get it done in 30 minutes. He failed!
4. House more organised as stuff back in hall cupboard. A fair amounts been thrown out. Not sure why I was keeping some of it.
5. Started to write Christmas cards. It always takes a while.0 -
Z1. R4 extra and Geoffrey Household's superlative 'Rogue Male', perfectly read by Michael Jayston, an actor well-remembered by &.
2. 15 jars of Yule Fuel Famously Groused marmalade lined up, looking good, + hm labels curly ribboned on.
3. Glad I brought laundry in o/n when seeing wet o/s this morning.
4. Won't be bidding on either Donald McIntyre painting today, much as I'd love to do so. They'd be keepers. Love them both, as does D. It is good for soul to handle, see, question, wonder at, share talk/opinions/knowledge of enduring work. Always, Me fecit.
5. Remembered permanent travel cup for emporium cappuccino post-viewing last night. Needed. Taties, which were the listed qualifying purchase: 2.5kg, rtc 5p:-). It will sound silly, pretentious, but careful probing viewing is not only a necessary skill, but also a concentration drain and tiring. Fingers crossed for today. Unlikely to gain desired poss. Lots, mais on verra.

Absences noted.
Mila - hope you are soon back here in full bounce.
Frith - connectivity. Anyone would think you'd decamped to Fens. Still no reconnection progress?
#
Mhags - so glad Haggis is with you through these sorts of moments. Also, paint fumery in small doses only. Ok? Not good for lungs, much as we understand the Keep Going mantra. Steady as she goes is the thing for now, with restorative snoozettes. Take care.

Monday pleasures,
With busier days looming and feeling rough decided a day of doing not much was required.
Lay on sofa, drinking honey & lemon and watching The White Princess on catch up, it's ok for its type but not sure I always agree with PG's version of English history!
Capt S working upstairs? no he'd cleaned both bathrooms which were on to do list, bless his cottons.
Finished one book and started next, the Santa Klaus Murder, perfect for an overcast, Autumnal day.
Uni Challenge which tested little grey cells followed by NL which tested patience0
