Thanks for your reply. Allowing a claim for cancellation would br great.

At present we are in discussion with them. As we don't have a diagnosis as such , only investigation for symptoms that are no longer present , They have suggested we contact our doctor to ask if she can give a diagnosis.

I don't see how she can but we'll see on Monday.

They have not mentioned claiming for cancelling, only that they will refund the £9 extra payment for pre existing conditions they were covering.

The position is that my husband is not medically unfit to travel, only that they will not cover an undiagnosed condition which may or may not exist.

My wife and I are having our first holiday abroad next year & we're going to Egypt, could anyone recommend a good Travel Insurance company that is good with pre-existing medical conditions.

It seems like a minefield of quotes and information as this is our first time it's all a bit intimidating.

    Thank you in advance

    Alan

If you want a personal recommendation, we use Columbus Direct.
So do we & they just paid out £6000, eventually.

You just have to try lots of companies to find the one that gives you the best deal. Some won't cover me, some won't cover the wife. Some, including Columbus, cover both of us.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

Is it possible to get cover that excludes existing conditions, but still covers accidents (e.g. broken bones etc)?

Quite possible - the cover will include everything the policy covers, except pre-existing conditions.

You'd have to be a bit careful, perhaps, about some pre-existing conditions. Osteoporosis, for example, would increase the risk of a broken bone, and although the direct cause might be an accident, the claim probably wouldn't be paid.

I have tried all insurance companies in this thread, spent many days trying to get insurance but all decline me
I'm going to Disneyland Paris next March
Because i've had couple of hospital admissions and take several inhaler's etc, but not on Oxygen . Still finding it near impossible, I lost my holiday this month to Majorca as only had insurance for cancellation and my ehic card
Any help please, I have tried British lung and heart foundation links etc and still get NO :(
I also have Asthma and having the two with constant chest infection's seem's I'm un insurable :(

Medical compare ..... cheapest £800 to £1300 for 5 days french cover
    I'm 49
I would love to be a Travel Agent :j

The best advice is probably here, but I'm sure you've already seen it:

Have you tried talking to a specialist broker?

I have Nationwide Flexplus travel insurance and had paid for Pre-existing medical conditions of high blood pressure and Cholesterol both managed by medication. Assuming I was well covered, I have booked a number of family holidays in 2016, but unluckily had a heart attack last Friday (18 December).
Luckily I was rushed into hospital and had and angioplasty and stent so will hopefully be fine.
My Heart Consultant has told me that I will be fit to travel on my planned holidays.
I phoned Nationwide Insurance to tell them that I had a heart attack, but would be OK to travel on my booked holidays on the mistaken understanding that as I had already booked and paid for holidays before my heart attack I would be covered! No chance! Basically they have declined to cover me from coronary conditions, but because I have been declared fit for travel, willl not re-imburse me for the thousands of pound I have already paid for holidays.
One of these is to Denver in the USA in August.

Basically they say it is my responsibility to find alternative cover or I should travel without heart insurance.

Who would travel to the USA without medical cover for a heart condition when you know you have one?

What is the point of paying for Travel Insurance?

It defies belief and to my mind is an immoral stance by the Insurance company, as they have been kept perfectly up to date with all the risks.

An earlier post implies that if you cancel your holiday they will have to re-imburse you, but how can you do that if you have been given medical clearance to travel? They would not accept that as a valid cancellation clause.

I am extremely angry and have posted a complaint to Nationwide Insurance that I am not satisfied with their stance.
