Thanks both, we haven't ended up doing too much. Although it is sunny it's too windy to be outdoors too long. We have all been to the park which was really fun though. I have visited my mum who has been unwell for 2 weeks with flu and flu complications. Needed to get her some shopping so also bought cocoa-powder to do more baking. Update of spend totals below to keep me on track.

I just went to open my new ISA and the site is down for maintenance- typical! I have no idea of savings targets but don't want to delay opening one anymore. Having read Mr E's thread I have learned the basic steps and don't feel I need to understand it completely to make an investment. Possibly naive but I am not economically skilled so am very grateful for what I have read.

Currently feel shattered and in need of a nap. Am considering a workout as I seem to have lost my running mojo but am wondering if my body is trying to tell me something.

    Petrol £30.48
    Food £62.91

Who are you trying to open an ISA with, if you don't mind me asking?

Admitting that you can't pick winners consistently is one of the most freeing and empowering realisations for anyone looking to invest for their future :)

Hi Ed, with Charles Stanley. I have managed to open one now as the site as back up and running. Have done the 80 acc fund with £50 a month. Not a clue what we are specifically saving for but I guess our future is enough?

Thanks MG, helps that the sun is mostly shining :)

Food spends now £71.73 petrol £30.48 as I decided to pop out for a bottle of wine yesterday and also bought some chocolate to make cakes later and some reduced good quality mince for 99p a pack. I bought 2 so they have gone in the freezer. DH plans to make burgers at some point.

87p requested from TCB, think its from when we bought the lawnmower so that has gone through quickly. Lotto is pending so hoping that isn't too long either. I have decluttered 2 baking trays this morning and think a Pyrex jug won't be too far behind. I have plenty of bowls can mix in and the measurements have rubbed off and it sits awkwardly in the cupboard!

After opening my S&S ISA yesterday I want to make sure all paperwork kept organised and go through my emails. Am sure DH won't be far behind me in opening one.

I feel like financially I am not achieving much this month, partly due to less frequent income due to DH pay change and I was eager to make plans for June-Sept as nursery fees reducing. On reflection I think I have been too impatient, DS leaves nursery in 6 weeks and I was trying to bring the date forward even more. Seems daft since we are so close to him leaving to be stressing about it so much. We WILL be financially better off in 6 weeks so I will plan from there. Any savings in between are a bonus and I will leave his budgeted childcare costs as they are for now. I think I feel more comfortable with a plan hence feeling a bit uneasy at the moment.

£12 in my purse to last until Friday. Since today should be a NSD and mon-thurs I don't tend to spend, I really don't see it being a problem.

Maybe mini challenge of spending £2 and overpaying the £10? :rotfl:

Hi Al, thought I would dip my toe in and learn more along the way. I do feel rather grown up now!

Thanks Tilly, challenge begun. Am going to look into that rocket pesto you recommended too, we have loads of it! We will never be self-sufficient but it's a start :)

HM pesto is easy and a gazillion times nicer than bought.
Toast some pine nuts...or use any nuts, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, bit of pecorino and some vegetation and whizz it.
