Argh, dd wanted a treat costing 60p which made me break into my £10 note! First world problems hey. That will rapidly get spent on school lunches the next two days as dd is fed up of sandwiches, can't say I blame her.
Had a really eventful day at work so hoping for a very relaxing evening.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Well we didn't get our relaxing evening. Bedtimes have become hard work here lately.
However, work wasn't so bad and we are just about to start watching 'Sherlock' so hoping that is our new series addiction.
My new investment has been delayed, had the direct debit mandate returned as I missed off some information. They have worked out I am an amateur! :rotfl:
DH has come home with his payslip so I have organised what money I will send where tomorrow. DH is on a lean budget due to his overspend. I was going to add in some of his overtime but he has just informed my he spent the last of his wages on carp today, what a waste of money - am really annoyed! Only a few £'s but that's not the point.
He WILL learn to budget!
Now it seems I may have some extra money I could transfer into my new ISA that I was going to send to him!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -

First episode was brilliant, not what I was expecting really. I love cleverly written stuff like that.Alchemilla wrote: »And funnily enough my Dad's family live up your way.
See
Payday and wages dealt with, that was brief!
55p Tilly tidy, money sent to bills and food and petrol accounts so everything budgeted for. I have sent £117 to the cc account but may deposit some of this into my ISA later to kick start it. Direct debit form done and ready to post this morning. I had a play with some of the calculators last night and could really see the impact of long term investment. 10 years would see us mortgage free, 20 would see us approaching retirement with a nice amount of money behind us for what seems minimal investment.
I think if MF in 10 years we need more plans for the following 10 years to take us into that period. I feel we have survived our toughest years with modest income and big outgoings so having more disposable income from this year onwards could really help us to secure our future.
More calculations needed
Have a good day everyone, enjoy the sunshine before the washout weekend arrives!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Well I have been up since 5:20am with DS so I am determined to maximise the day. Washing machine on, both children up, DH having a rare lie in and I am hoping to go out for a run by 7am.
Have a bit of a spendy day planned, taking children to get their feet measured then off to the zoo. I also want to pay some money into the children's savings accounts as I haven't done so for a while (since changing their accounts) and feel I should do this. We need to pop into town this morning anyway so it saves extra parking charges.
I also want to transfer some money into ISA so will do that this afternoon. I think we need to balance more with paying off cc, saving etc. we currently pay round £400 a month off the cc and now have managed to consolidate it onto 3 0% cards it is much less scary than it was.
£7.50 off £50 spend arrived with Mr S shop so need to do a food shop by weds next week. We have plenty in so might use it to re-stock a little. We tend to use a lot of the same things, tomato puree, rice, cereals etc.
Just reading MWC diary which prompted me to check out 'pick your own' farms and our local one opens for strawberry picking this weekend so that can be a day out next weekend. A lot of the fruit we are buying seems to be spoiling quickly lately, bananas and grapes for example so maybe freshly picked is the way to go.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Sounds a nice day out - both weekends.0

Bit of a stressy day rather than the lovely day planned. Just popping in to update spends while I remember.
Current totals
Food - £174.62
Petrol -£151.31
That's 63% of new monthly budget spent which is worrying as I was hoping to review it and we wouldn't need everything I had allocated. DH however has filled car which should last 3 weeks. Fevers crossed its just down to the first half of the month being spendier than the rest.
Too tired for a glass of wine this evening, time to give it up maybe?June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Sorry you had a stressy day.xxx0
