So, the start of a new week and month. Have quickly checked the accounts, nothing exciting happening and no pennies to Tilly tidy. If we can live on around £20 for the next 11 days (doesn't include food or petrol) I can pay the cc without needing to borrow from another account. This is also helped by the fact I realised I sent DH too much money this week!
When we sold bits and pieces last week I gave him the money and was meant to remember to take it off the amount I transferred on payday, clearly I forgot. He is a true gent though amd sending it straight back. Plan then will be to pay the bill and draw out cash to keep us within budget.
I wonder if once the cc and mortgage have gone I will remain this frugal.....probably!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Thanks Ed, I have a few moments where I crave sugar so could be low ish but no major problems this week. I don't eat right for training at all, used to go out first thing with old 2 cups of coffee in my system. I have no idea how to carb load etc, I should probably look into it.
Do you still run Ed?
I think the jury is out on carb loading. Psychologically, I feel it helped me before race events, definitely wouldn't bother with it during training unless it was a marathon.
Re. running, excuses aside, answer is currently no0 -
That's ed, I don't need any excuses to eat more. I am currently sugar loading which is never a good sign - has just been that kind of day.
Accounts checked amd reward money shuffled. Have £45 in the bank and £24 in my purse so have plenty to pay the cc bill without further shuffling. DH was a gem amd reimbursed me for my error!
Still trying to keep food spends low and it seems to be working. Small top up shop at c0-0p yesterday (just after 5pm) to get reduced items so that helps with work lunches and pack ups for school. Still have some roast chicken left so that will create a curry tomorrow, really is amazing how far a cooked chicken can stretch!
Dd complaining of headaches and I can't find her glasses anywhere. I will ring them tomorrow and see if I can get her in for another eye test and get her some replacements. How do things just disappear?
No other money making/saving news. We appear to be plodding.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
What a long week this seems to be....
Another small top up shop amd I am going to monitor food and petrol spends for June. So far food spends are £15.56. I was going to do an online Mr S shops as have a voucher but the wine was far too expensive! I think I will run down our stores and take advantage of an online shop next week. Will just be buying the basics this week, usually consists of wine, a chicken and fruit!!
Small things can please me, have made a weeks petrol last for 9 days
Dd requested a treat after tennis this evening and I usually let her have one despite me being appalled at the cost. I tried to convince her previously we could buy a multipack of sweets for a little more but she likes choosing from there. However, 60p for a packet of chewits!?!
Am looking at more sporting activities for the children, dd has to wait another year for athletics but locally there is a group which introduces children to a variety of sports so am going to look into that. Dd has also expressed an interest in the piano too, where am I going to find all this time and money!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
It gets very expensive doesn't it when they are little, I always caved in and paid for what they wanted to have a go at if we could afford it (and sometimes if we couldn't) half the time though they did get fed up after a while, but you never know what they will try and and fall in love with , you might have a budding concert pianist thereMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

I think I will be the same Newgirly, it is money well spent and I am quite conscious I didn't have the same opportunities when I was growing up. Dd now wants to do gymnastics and DS wants to play tennis. Since dd already plays I think I will take them both to tennis in the morning. There goes my saturday morning run!
£50 paid off one of the cc today. Nothing exciting happening, no Tilly tidies as no money movement but I am trying to keep spends low. Will update June spending figures later. I did do a post and lost it. Think I've been forced onto the new forum layout! Hope everyone is enjoying this warm dayJune 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
June food spends
£60.86
Petrol
£30.48
Currently budgeting £500 a month for groceries and petrol for two cars. Hoping to come in under this so I cam divert the excess to the S&S ISA I am definitely going to open this weekend!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Have woken to glorious sunshine, just the way it should be.
Gives us lots of options of what to do today. The children want to go to the park and we are going to a funday later so lots of time outside. Spent some lovely time with DS yesterday watering the plants and he loved it. Think he will be my daily helper out there. I also bought some more lettuce seeds yesterday so will get those planted later.
Housework mostly done through weekly pottering so no need to devote the morning to that. Accounts remain quiet although not very MSE I took advantage of a TCB lotto offer yesterday and bought a few tickets. We won £3.10 so actually made a profit (as long as the cashback tracks, no sign as yet).
Other plans for today include watching the rest of the Murray game and opening an ISA.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
