just bought a mountainful trolley of shopping from the supermarket for Xmas, it feels wonderful to know that I've only made a tiny dent into the money used from the saved interest this month to buy the big shopMortgage free I: 8th December 2009!

new developments:
1) Good news is that the confirmation letter for last week's OP is through, mortgage remaining now stands at just under £4950. Monthly payments translate to £30 a month, over £320 a month less than they were at the start of 2009;
2) Signature updated with the new figures;
3) Even better news is that I now have the funds in my account to make another OP tomorrow to clear 99% of the remaining amount to leave myself with a negligable sum remaining, and the mortgage door slightly ajar in case of future borrowing. My Xmas present to me! :xmassmile
4) Does less than £100 of a £70000 mortgage remaining over the next 20 years class myself as MF?! :money:Mortgage free I: 8th December 2009!

thinking about it, I'm not sure which I'm getting excited about more... the final OP or saving a lump sum at the end of the month when the salary comes through instead of throwing it at the mortgage?Mortgage free I: 8th December 2009!

well I did it. I made another big overpayment today.
According to the figures I was given over the phone the amount remaining is just over 50 quid (assuming the payment they are taking at the end of the month is still going through then it will soon be only £20).
I asked them what the monthly payments would be but given there is still 20 years left of the mortgage and only 20 quid left they couldn't work it out over the phone - I think I broke their computer!Mortgage free I: 8th December 2009!
