Tried switching elderly neighbours to UP.
They've had an email giving their new gas and electricity charges - according to the email the rates they will be switching them to will cost them at least 20% MORE than the rates shown on the switching page, which was direct on the UP website and the same original rate was also offered on at least 2 comparison sites.
Am going to look at other providers for them and see what's available before the cooling off period is over.0 -

I notice they have 2 tariffs 'Just Up 18 Wk38 Direct' and 'Up Energy Saver' - there is a big price difference between these 2 tariffs - does the letter say which tariff they have chosen? I'm not really sure why anyone would choose the more expensive one unless they are hoping people might accidentally click on the wrong one when selecting.0 -
Boliston - I did the switch for them while they watched and, after comparing the tariff rates of both tariffs, the cheapest one was definately clicked and chosen.0

I think you will find most are happy with them as a supplier - I certainly am.. and haven't needed to contact them on the phone for ages as I can do everything online. When I did do so, everything was resolved promptly.
Having said that, these days there is obviously some element of risk with any small supplier due to the number that are going out of business - though customers (and credit balances) are protected by Ofgem.
If you look around, you will find that an existing customer (including me!) can refer you to them and both parties get £25 from UP.0 -

So definitely no bias or conflict of interest here in this feedback then ...

Just done a switch from outfox the market - looks like it will save me 3.4% on electricity, 15.3% on gas and 47.6% on standing charges, and it's fixed for 12 months.
Me too, in the process of switching to them.
They're quoting just over £500 a year whereas Outfox will be £620 come January for my usage. Hence a no-brainer to switch (was going with Lumo but they're forcing obsolete SMETS1 smart meters on customers so cancelled the switch, and went with UtilityPoint instead).
Hopefully it'll go smoothly - they seem too cheap to be true (ala Outfox, who were the cheapest for me, prior to the 4 price increases and mayhem this past 6 months!).
I don't mind the 'winter doubling' of the DD, similar to what Outfox are now doing. All ends up being the same and Utility Point's tariff where you have to take that variable DD is very cheap0 -
Switch to UP started today -gas and electric. WAY cheaper than anybody else. Will keep the forum notified of progress. Fingers crossed.
EDIT: Welcome pack received; meter numbers are correct; tariff correct. If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
Hmm, wish I'd seen this before I signed up for Bulb!! Still, it's not much different and Bulb are established and have a good rep so I can live with it for now, and if Bulb get expensive I can jump ship with no exit fees. Only Enstroga were cheaper on comparison (but they won't supply me more than 12,500 KWh of leccy and that is nowhere near enough - don't ask).0

Definitely not, I only mention it so that the poster is aware of the referral scheme if they decide to join - not that I get any referral.
I would always be honest in my views of how I think companies are, hence would not be recommending any of the other energy firms I currently manage on behalf of my family..
There is also lots of other feedback on UP in this thread - mainly positive but not totally (including from me) - and any existing customer would have the same 'conflict of interest' as you call it0
