East coast - options for refund
Hi, I booked a ticket at the beginning of December to travel on the 16th Dec 2013. Due to a number of reasons I had to delay travel and paid £20 to change the day of travel to 20th Jan 2014. I went today to collect the original tickets from the station from the train station but the ticket machine was unable to print out…

Victoria station
I work flexi time and I can arrive at Victoria anytime from 7.45 am to 9.15 am Monday to Friday. I know between 8.30 am and 9 am the entrance to the tube is often blocked. Is it better earlier than that or just as bad? Anyone got relevant experience? Thanks in advance.

South West Trains
Hi We are going down to Portsmouth early next year. We are going by train. It appears unlike most other train companies you cannot reserve any type of seats on their trains-1st class or otherwise. My question is are their trains busy? We would be travelling via Waterloo and it would be mid morning both ways, so not in the…

My advice? Never book Southeastern tickets in advance.
I booked tickets on High Speed train for Christmas Eve. I made the ghastly mistake of pre booking it on the website. paying 67 quid in advance. I collected my tickets at the station machine. The train was then cancelled and the service suspended for some hours due to the weather. Since then I have been trying to get a…

Redspottedhanky - can i combine clubcard vouchers with an evoucher?
I have to travel to Birmingham at the end of the month and it's going to cost £72.80 return. I already have a £10 evoucher in my Redspottedhanky account but i was thinking of converting £30 of clubcard vouchers to use as well. Does anyone know if i can combine the two and then just pay £2.80 on top? I'm not too sure which…

Grand Central Railways
Was travelling from Sunderland to London 10 days ago with a pre-booked Grand Central train ticket. GC cancelled the train so I needed to make alternative travel arrangements. Since then it has been impossible to get any response from GC as to what to do. Their 'customer services' phone line just rings and rings - have been…

Help me choose a new bike!
So it looks like my commuter bike is getting to the point of retirement, and the time has come to find a replacement. My criteria are: * Needs to have a step-through (ladies) frame - at some point I plan to put a child seat on the back, so not having to swing my leg over is important! * Reasonable range of gearing - my…

Good Cycle Infrastructure
Following on from the 'why don't cyclists use cycle lanes?' thread with its links to the all-too-common crap we have in this country I thought a discussion of what we do want would be both interesting and educational, ideally with pictures. So, any examples, or any thoughts about what YOU want from cycle infrastructure?

Hampton Court to Watford Junction?
Afternoon folks and Happy New Year to you all :) I will soon start a new job, which is based in Watford. I live in the Hampton Court area. The job involves a start time of 05:30! I have looked at trains and buses but it appears I am out of luck, I found a train from Clapham Junction which would get me in at 05:40 to…

Complain to save
I am one of the victims of the terrible service provided by First Great Western. I have found that it really does pay to complain, not just claim refunds. I have complained to my MP several times about the service, via email. My MP forwards these to the train company and I receive large value train vouchers as a result .…

DLR fine - touched in oyster card but fare not registered
Hello, I'm looking for a bit of advice on an appeal. Today I was given a fine by a PTA on the DLR. I touched in my prepaid oyster at a DLR station and it beeped. A PTA checked it with the hand scanner and it had not registered me touching in. I explained to the PTA that I was traveling down to London for work, showed them…

Rules about setting up a bus route
This is just out of general interest (as I don't own a bus company and I'm sure I'd know the answer if I did). But if a bus company wants to set up a new route does it have to apply for permission from the local council? On what grounds can it be refused? Is it the same rule for local companies and national chains like…

So, fares are going up again...
.. in order to spread the cost of running the trains more evenly between the passenger and the tax payer, apparently. News flash BBC, the people buying tickets to get in to work each day ARE the tax payers! They're already paying both portions! So you'll need to think up another brilliant reason that isn't 'we want lots of…
