There are numerous reasons why someone would not want a smart meter including my main reason's, incompetent engineers installing them incorrectly and causing fires, another form of data monitoring into our lives, having another engineer having to enter my property.

Having a smart meter fitted is no different than all the other meter changes that have been going on for decades with few issues. I don't see why having someone in your property is an issue.

If your worried about data monitoring then why are you using the internet at all, the amount of data you provide just by having a computer/smart phone is far more useful and used by many companies than any smart meter data.

Also, I know if I got one I would be constantly monitering how much electricity/gas I use, something I would rather not have to do. That's not to say in the future I would not accept one, just not ready for one at rhe moment.

Really would like to sign up to this tariff in the next couple of days so would be nice if the Eon representative could answer on the misleading terms and conditions when signing up.

You don't have to have the In Home Display plugged in at all, you could even throw it away if you didn't want to see it. But you should already know your usage from the regular meter readings you take and supply to your energy company. So a smart meter will just make it a bit easier by not having to read your meters.

Well, the fact is I personally don't and from the looks of it there's plenty of other people that feel the same, so lets leave it at that.

Anyway, the real reason I came on here was not to discuss the fact why I (and other's) don't want a smart meter, more, asking for the Eon representative to answer definitively on the misleading terms and conditions which was the original subject matter of this thread.

But that makes no sense the meter is owned by energy supply network and it is a device purely for their benefit to measure how much your using.

Do you go into the local butchers and check what scales they are using to make sure it's a type that you approve of?
When filling up a car with fuel to check what kind of meter they have fitted to their pumps because you don't like using certain types?

If 6 posts is an obsession that needs professional help then looking at how many posts you have on here saying you don't want a smart meter
Which is between me and my energy company, nothing to do with you, and yet you reply incessantly.

I agree with you, oliverbrown, best to just ignore now, you won't win.

Hopefully the Eon representative will answer shortly.

If you have an issue that is between yourself and your energy company then you contact the energy company directly to get an official response.

So why post on a public discussion board aimed at money saving if you won't enter into a discussion about the issue?

You can't expect to post on here with an illogical anti smart meter position which is going to end up costing you money and not have people challenge you on this.

If you are sure you have a logical argument about not having a smart meter then you would be able to put this argument forward against the points the i am making.

Because helpful replies can be had from E.on staff on this forum, unlike your replies which contribute nothing whatsoever.

I agree it would be useful for Eon to respond and fix the inconsistencies. But in reality they probably don't care and even if they did, by the time they fix it, they'll be on v21 and will have another mismatch of T's & C's. It's an inherent problem of large organisations.

I also believe they should be free to set whatever criteria they like for a tariff. It's the same in many other areas of retail where some form of sign up or loyalty commitment is rewarded with better prices.

Well actually my replies are useful because they might make you realise that refusing a smart meter is a waste of time and money so then the issue would be solved and you wouldn't have to worry.

What have E.ON said when you contacted them directly about your concerns? the E.ON rep posting on this forum won't provide you with any information that you can't get from them directly.

And as I've said many times I'm not interested in what you think about my lack of desire for a smart meter. Like I said, you're obsessed.
