Just discovered this thread and it's made me feel like I'm not alone!
When visitors are expected in our house we do a procedure known as "Skank to Swank" in the "public" areas. Et voila, we look tidy and organised to the unsuspecting visitors. We pray they don't open a cupboard or look in a bedroom...0 -
When you can't wash the kitchen floor due to the water being shut off (roadworks outside) spray your favourite cleaner on the floor and skate around on a kitchen towel. It smells clean!0

At last I have found my spiritual home.
When preparing food or eating in the kitchen, whatever I drop, or wipe off on to the floor, I leave for the dogs to clean up. (very embarrassing when I've forgotten myself and done it at work or someone else's house.)
Bed covers need to be thrown back and the mattress aired........, all day........,till bed time. Have recently dispensed with top sheet ,so if I do make the bed all I have to do is shake and throw the duvet.
I'm pleased to see I'm not the only one who uses, to be washed, socks etc. for the occasional , 'oh my god has it got that bad' bout of dusting.
Tried the Flylady once, did 15 minutes of cleaning....... didn't realise I had to do it all over again 15 minutes later. Did have very shiny sink for a few weeks, till I got bored.
It would be interesting to compare how much healthier Fly ladies are than us slobs, I'd bet no difference, or even us coming out better with more robust immune systems and less stress. :-)0 -

But have you ever considered opening your cold oven door too?

BTW, my family rarely get colds or upset stomachs, despite a 'loose' approach to food safety which drive CH nuts (there are some things he's just better off not knowing about)Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
a 'loose' approach to food safety here too
When she was in reception my dd had a new friend round to play and I gave them both a custard cream biscuit. I heard the friend say that she'd dropped her biscuit and needed to put it in the bin. Dd said 'you don't need to do that - just pick the cat hair off and eat it'. That's my girl :rotfl:They'll ask me how I got her I'll say
I saved my money

Anyone heard of the '3 second rule' concerning food thats been dropped on the floor? I'd never heard of it till yesterday. Apparently its safe to eat as long as its not been on the floor longer than 3 seconds.
I'd still rather not take any chances.:(This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
