Or put it on somebody elses plate...

Did I just say that out loud?

About 40 years ago my parents moved to the south west and were invited to dinner by various local families to get to know people, and invited them in return and found a circle of new friends. All very sociable and friendly.

They were hurt by one family that steadfastly ignored them until that particular family hosted a ball some years later and asked my mother to have some of their guests to dinner first. She bought a fillet of beef to make a Beef Wellington to show them, she said, that she knew how to entertain.

We had both pet dogs and working dogs because it was a farm. One of them was preggers at the time and had become, temporarily, a food thief. As the fillet was dragged and bounced across the yard by her to feast on in a quiet place away from the other doggos, my mother, who was not built for speed, took her time following it outside to wrest it from said doggo's jaws.

Doggo was bribed with a bone, the fillet was rescued, rinsed off, dried, browned, covered in pate, wrapped in pastry, roasted, served and eaten by a tableful of guests who must have thought we'd been given the FHB command, as the family ate somewhat sparingly at the feast.

Off we went to the ball and that was that.

My mother never regretted it and it still, nearly 30 years later, makes me laugh.

By the way, if anyone reading this had dinner at Chel$on the night of the Cave's ball in 1982 ....

I had a slob lady moment today. Wandered into my dining room to look for something and found out that the table was still set from new year day! No dirty plates but cutlery, napkins, table mats, salts sugars, dead flowers in a vase. So obviously I haven't been in the room for 4 months!

    :T:T

Respect! I'm going to go hide under my bed now and play with the dust. I must try harder! :D

or is that try LESS?

    I love this thread :T

I have bags and boxes of stuff and things that I haven't looked at in over 10 years and I keep thinking that I should just chuck em but then there's always that little niggling thought that there could be useful things in there.

I am getting better, my hoards only occupy 3 rooms and 2 sheds now and I always found if I threw a blanket over them they disappeared :rotfl:

This thread has made me giggle!

I totally get the whole sloblady thing, I hate housework and have been known to stash stuff under pillows, bedclothes etc.
When I lived in the UK I had 9 ferrets and they would come in the house for a play and a cuddle and create havoc dragging out all my carefully stashed stuff from under chairs and such.
I have one of those battery operated whirly duster thingys, its spotless:rotfl:must get round to using it one day!
Trying to be debt free by the end of 2016 :j

I have a confession. I washed my kitchen floor today. Well it was begining to make those sticky noises. I also washed all the cupboard doors, the fridge door and the microwave door and the dog nose tide mark off the dishwasher.
In my defence, it was the tail end of a manic phase that has left me totally wiped out, and I didn't touch the cooker top or the inside of the fridge...
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

Thank goodness you've got over that! I do hope you're resting up now. ;)
