- They are not inanimate objects they are in fact a different life form.
- when you buy socks you get a matched pair, one male and one female sock.
- After a while they mate and reproduce, this results in a sock unlike any others in your house, that you know you have never purchased
- After mating the female sock eats the male sock (like praying mantises) meaning one sock disappears never to be seen again.
THIS is why on my gravestone I will have engraved "life is too short to pair socks", as I'll never get near stuffing a mushroom: tall/short/stripy/spotted i care not: I have two feet, I see no reason they are required to be clad in identical patterns.
Love this thread, thank you all:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -

Loving this thread, glad it's not just me that has some of these good habits!0 -
Ah, socks. They are disposable or so my number one tells me.
He buys packs of 20 pairs in WalMart for $10 and if he doesn't see them again after he wears them, he's not heartbroken. I think he's left pairs in every province he's been to.0 -

DundeeDoll wrote: »Why you should not clean your room
Situations of greater entropy are statistically favoured. Things that are statistically favoured tend to happen, especially over time. A disordered room has greater entropy than an organized one. Thus an organized room will tend to become disordered over time. The only way to reverse this is by continually putting in energy from an outside system (i.e. making the effort to clean your room regularly)
HOWEVER, at some point a disordered room will be maximally entropic. At this point, continually failing to clean one’s room will not generally result in a more disordered state. Thus no additional input of energy is needed to maintain the state of the room
Therefore cleaning one’s room is futile - a task for the modern day Sisyphus. It is much more energetically efficient to allow the room to stay at its natural, maximally entropic state towards which it will always tend (and to expend that energy on more interesting things)
Love it! And welcome to my world :T0 -
I find that if I leave the Collie fur blowing through the house, it eventually winds up in front of a door and acts as a draft excluder. Not the best solution I know, but he does object when I put the dog basket in front of the door overnight.0
