Can I just clarify if travelling for work (ie, I commute on the train, so buy a weekly or montly ticket) counts as a 'spendy' day?

The rules are up to you on what you do / don't include. For instance I don't count direct debits, petrol (there's one day a week I go past a station where it's considerably cheaper) or milk. Some people have pots for allocating money such as gym money, or child care and so long as they don't go over that allocation it's not a spend.

Personally, as it's an essential cost I wouldn't count it as a spend, so long as you don't spend on anything else that day.

    Jan NSD's 4/15
  • Noooo! First day back at work and spending happened :o

A surprisingly reasonable trip to the butchers, very naughty of me though as meal plan is not yet done for January! Got a ham hock which I haven't done before and it came with a matching trotter, so I reckon a trip to the OS board is in order now!

Hope no one has been blown away today!

Well I didn't manage a NSD yesterday in the end, hubby paid for us to get in to the play centre but then I bought us both a drink and a cake, bah.

Probably won't have one for the rest of the week now either due to paying to get into different baby groups, looks like I'm going to struggle to get to 10 :( Will try again from next week and see how I do.

EDIT - I have a pair of trousers to take back to Tesco, DS was bought them for Xmas by my MIL but they are 6-9 months and he's 1 next week?! I have 15 pairs of trousers already in 12-18 months so don't need any more, can I keep the £7 and class it as NSDs if I spend it?

    Hi lilian
I see you've had some advice about pots of money for different things from one of the gang, hope that's helped.

Re the trousers, yes I would say you can have an NSD if you spend the money providing you don't spend anything else, it was a present after all.

    Good afternoon all!

Back to work today and having a "challenging" morning! Came into am email from supervisor asking me to "explain" a couple of issues which arose last week ( Remember, the same days that I came in to help out with staff shortages. I was totally snowed under but got my stuff done plus helped with other folks work too)
So I "Explained" that it was a couple of errors of the human kind while thinking:
    A) get over it you ungrateful so-and-so
    B) note to self: never volunteer your time off again, Jints
    and
    C) This aint worth the hassle, I dont even get paid for changing my plans and coming in, only get days off in lieu.

So I am a bit girny, grr!

    Hi jinty,
I'm not surprised you're a bit teed off, I'm fuming on your behalf, bl00dy cheek!!! Work to rule for you from now on, I reckon.... grrrrrrr

On the upside it's my Dad's 80th birthday today so we are off to theirs tonight for cake and fizz. The family will all be there so we'll have a laugh.
Tomorrow I have a girl's get together out at a friends house and
on Friday we are all out for Dad's birthday dinner.
So lots to look forward to, but most of all, after tomorrow I'm off till next Monday!:j

Sounds brilliant, hope you had a lovely evening:j and two more things to look forward to should get you through tomorrow, fingers crossed x

1st NSD for me. Hoping tomorrow will be too, if I can persuade them that homemade bread is best.
