I'm having a terrible problem with Play at the moment. I ordered an in-stock item 2 weeks again and since then my order has been stuck with a status of "packing". Everytime I ring their off-shore Help Desk I'm told it will be "24 hours before it's despatched" but it never is. I asked to speak to a Supervisor who simply repeated the same thing.

Does anybody know how to speak to anybody else within Play.com?

    David.

Seems like you're not alone. Play's reputation went downhill fast with the COD MW2 release (or non release in their case.)

Looks like theyr'e still at it.

I had exactly the same problem with GT5 from Play. It was guaranteed to be delivered on the day of release. 6 days later it actually turned up. I thought I was just a rare issue, but looking at that link I guess I'm not!
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
  • My experience with Play, absolutely appalling customer service....
Ordered 2 Razor electric scooters for Christmas, and found on Christmas morning one of them had a flat tyre.
Tried pumping it up, but it stayed flat.
Waited until holidays ended and sent email to find a local service-repair centre.
Response was for another, entirely unrelated item, bought previously on a different order number.
Not sure how anyone could relate a flat tyre to a coat, but that was what happened.
Emailed again with no response, then a week later had to ring their 0845 number.
After explaining the problem to a totally uninterested person, the only thing they seemed to want to offer was refund or replace.
I asked for a replacement, a week later they collected item.
Then after another 10 days they refunded cost, no other contact made.
If you are buying an item, anything that may need ANY kind of customer service or interaction, then Play.com is not the place for you.
Of all the interactions I had with them, after many emails and time spent on the phone they completely failed, and were a complete waste of time.
AVOID IF YOU VALUE YOUR TIME!er service........
  • The best email is playtradecs@play.com. this is the one they don't want to give out! Make it fao Eddie foulds
  • I have used Play.com many times over the last few years and I have always had a reasonably good service...until now!

Last week I ordered an Icecrypt 1TB Freeview+ HD PVR Recorder - £195.99.

The order was confirmed online and by email but 3 days later I received an email requesting I telephone for an 'additional security check'. So I 'phoned them. Either the line was very poor or the CS Rep's accent was very hard to understand but after many 'pardons' and 'could your repeat that' the order was 'confirmed'.

Two days later I received another email indicating a problem with my Cardholder address. So I 'phoned again. Got another 'poor line' or CS Rep with a difficult accent. Eventually, it turned out there was no problem with my card/address but that the item was no longer in stock at the original price. If I now wanted it I'd have to re-order at the new price of £289.95 - nearly 50% more and more expensive than the 2TB version which was listed at £279.89 - and In Stock.

After complaining about advertising goods at one price, accepting orders for them and then refusing to honour as well as sending misleading emails I asked to talk to the manager. I repeated my complaints to the manager but she refused to honour the original order stating that no charge had been made against my credit card and said even if I didn't cancel the order it wouldn't get filled.

So the order was cancelled and I placed a new order the 2TB version instead...

This order was also confirmed online but initially no confirmation email arrived so I 'phoned to make sure there were no problems and was told yet again that the item wasn't REALLY In Stock and the order wouldn't be honoured. Since then the confirmation email has arrived but when I checked my account they had cancelled the order.
