Hi MMD, Just read your thread through and really hope all goes well at court and you get that MBNA debt crushed! What pants about your Coop card:( . iI'm sjtu guessing really but surely if there's been fraudulent activity on your account you're not liable for it and the bank cover it for you? Sorry if I sound naive but I thought that was way that kind of thing was so costly to banks, cos they have to pay the money back to the innocent account holder? I'm sure you'll be calling them anwyay but I appreciate you don't need it right now! Anyway, all the best, you've got some great MSEers looking out for you. GOOD LUCK!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Hi MMD
Just read all your thread today - hang in there, you have made great progress.
I have just looked on the Co-op site and found this link.
It seems more geared towards online banking, but you need to call them asap and explain the situation. When I got pick pocketed the thieves blew about £500 in around an hour and a half. Natwest refunded the lot but it took around 3 weeks to process.
Can your Mum or OH lend you some money to get by on in the next few days? Do you have any wages coming in? I know you are freelance but as you say your outgoings exceed your income, would it make sense to apply for a full time position? Or could you get casual work to fit around the days you're not working?
You should definitely post your soa here, there's no risk from dcas and it's really helpful. Also the old style board is wonderful. You can have a really nice life on a very little amount of money using all the tips from MSE.
Also if you're in central London, do you have a spare room you could rent out at all? You can make around £400 tax free under the government's rent a room scheme. If you have a living room you could convert this to a bedroom, it's quite common.
Did you spend any money on anything you could sell to release equity? I used to sell bits on ebay and amazon, it really helped me get debt free. Also reclaiming bank charges? Check Martin's article for the progress of the test case.:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
I don't know if this is a good idea or not, but perhaps you could rent out your flat, and move into a room?
This is a bit precarious, and depends on your situation. But if you were able to rent out your house eg. £1200pcm and rent a room for £450pcm then this might help you get back afloat.
Just an idea - take care x:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
Hang on in there MMD, it's money that's all it ismoneymeltdown wrote: »things just got worse...my co op bank card has been cloned and what little money was in there has been drained-leaving me overdrawn on the cashminder account ...NOT MY FAULT i am in tears

Regarding the other issue, are you on any kind of DMP?Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional0 -
Hi MMD,
My husband got pick-pocketed on holiday last year (Barcelona), These morally deficient people ended up spending £15,000 in an afternoon! Don't worry, you will get your money back for all the fraudluent activity.
Basically, you need to report it to the police and get a crime reference number, then submit you claim to the credit card company and give the crime reference number. They usually send you out a form you complete and sign it and you should get your money refunded within a week.
It's a horrible experience to come through, but we have learned valuable lessons as we were quite relaxed about the security of our belongings as we thought "it would never happen to us".
I have been following your thread for a couple of months now and you are doing a grand job.
Keep the chin up, you'll get through this.

Hang on in there MMD, it's money that's all it is

Regarding the other issue, are you on any kind of DMP?
no I am not on a DMP as self employed and outgoings exceed incomings...cccs advised mt to contact all my creditors and make them offers...most of them refused so just ploughing on really making minimal payments"happiness is...positive cashflow!":j0 -
thanks everyone for support about the fraud thing...i have done everything I can by reporting it all etc ... i just have to wait now until co op investigate it. I am able to borrow some cash until a new debit card arrives! what more can go wrong! am smiling through the pain though...don't worry!
