I do mean it - the offer is still open.
It occurs to me that you could go along to one of the Crisis at Christmas centres - I used to volunteer at Crisis - when they serve Christmas dinner you could eat until you fell over.

Having gone through the thread, I didn't want to read and run. I can't give any advice but just wanted to wish you a very happy Christmas.
Hope you can take advantage of some of the wonderful offers of help too - so many fabulous people on here. Take care and very best wishes.Debt Jan 2008: £45,566. *** June 2013: DEBT FREE! ***

Poor you, they're lousy barstewards doing that on Christmas eve. Not much of use that I can say about the letters that you've got I'm afraid, but there are loads of people on here that know everything there is to know about these things - if you don't get a response to an urgent question on your own thread, then just start a new one or hijack one that's really active with a link to this - nobody will shout at you for that in your current situation, we're all here to support each other, and most of use have been at the end of our tether at some stage because we've been crap with money.
It might feel like the whole world is against you at the moment and that you want a big hole to swallow you up, but remember it's only money. They can't take away your family and your health which are far more important. When I was on the bones of my ar5e I used to just think what was the very, very worst thing that could happen financially - a bit of hassle with courts and bankruptcy, or having to sell/lose the house and rent for a while, and never being able to get credit/mortgage again. Even if all of those things were to happen (none of them did, and I hope none of them do to you either), apart from a bit of an inconvenience, so what? You won't go to jail, nobody will die. It's just not worth the worry, as that really will make you ill and you need to keep your wits about you.
Take up any offers that you get of free food or anything else, you can always repay when you've got cash. I'm miles away or I'd drop round with a bottle of wine and some chocolate which would be guaranteed to make everything better! Have a happy Christmas and do try not to let it worry you too much, the worst that can happen really is only as bad as you make it. PPx0 -

S'okay - I'm only doing what I hope someone would do for me, were I in a similar situation - and I cannot afford to be complacent about where I am at the moment: it is said that everyone is only two bad decisions away from being homeless. By the way, when suggesting Crisis at Christmas, I wasn't trying to say that people who are not yet homeless should avail themselves of Crisis' services but it seems to me that these matters are not as clear-cut as they were when I used to volunteer (20 years ago): there are many more people now who are, one might say, on the borderline.YouGov: £50 and £50 and £5 Amazon voucher received;

OP - I hope you get everything sorted. Not sure what the CCCS is, so can't offer any advice I'm afraid.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £24,616.090
