Poor circulation and feeling cold

A couple of months ago, my son was selected to play football for a local boys team. This means that every Saturday morning, I spend 3 hours standing in an open field which is close to the coast and the icy North Sea wind!
I wear many thin layers of clothing as I know this keeps you warmer and I wear a storm proof hiking coat which does keep the wind chill and wet out. I normally buy a hot drink and bacon buttie from the van half way through too.
By the end of the football I feel numb with the cold, and feel cold for ages afterwards. This afternoon we all watched the England game on TV. The heating was on and the rest of the family were in t-shirts. I still had my jumper layers on from this morning, and I was freezing!
Can anyone suggest anything I can do to improve my circulation and to stop feeling the cold so much? I'm not looking for medical advice as I know there's nothing medically wrong - just general advice on keeping warm.
It's going to get worse in the winter season as the North Sea wind is very icy, so any tips would be very much appreciated.
have you tried coming home and having a hot bath rather than stay in your layers. It might warm you up quicker.0 -

Surely if your symptoms are severe you should try warming up slowly first before getting into a hot bath/shower. You don't want chilblains, etc setting in. I find my own body temperature works best. What I tend to do is put my hands under my clothes and let them warm up slowly. Of course it does depend too on how warm the room is, I’m sure anyone wouldn’t get very warm fast if they were sitting in the cold regardless of where they where unless they were running around of course. Then maybe consider getting in to a hot bath/shower. I must admit it does work wonders.0 -

I did try arguing that if your radiators are only thin, your slippers might fall off, so then he said you'd hook them onto the corners by the heels (assuming you have them, which I always do).

I also suffer from feeling cold along with cold hands in the middle of summer. I can stop this within an hour if I have a dose of vitamin C powder approx ¼ of a level teaspoon (not the fizzy stuff). When I first discovered it I was taking it to fight off a cold and I couldn’t understand why my hands felt as if they were burning. A doctor once told me it was a placebo effect and it’s been a family joke ever since – the only placebo that other people can tell when I have had it (my hands & nose feel warm to touch) After that I found that vitamin E also had a similar effect. I hope this helps.

Wear a pair of woolly tights or leggings underneath your jeans.
wear shoes that have a padded sole and not a thin sole.
do not wear cotton next to your skin, when you sweat it cannot dry out like synthetics.
wear a long coat, one of those padded types.
wear a hat, and gloves

I'm another one..i've only nipped out to collect DS from school and feet and were frozen, but even if i don't go out i still really feel the cold.
The only thing that warms me up quickly is hot bath and hot drink together...then i end up being to hot lol shame it doesn't last. Hot toddies do work also if you like a whiskey.
We watch DS play footie tues eves and sat mornings and i must admit to sitting in the car with heater on as i just can't stand it after a bit. Theres only me like this all my family never feel the cold and same with hubbies lot too....shorts and tshirts in the house in this weather :eek:....me i'm always in a fleece over my many layers
I have found those thinsulate gloves you get from pound shop the best for walking the dog...dead thick they are. Always wear a hat does help and i wear two pairs of fleecy socks with my wellies.0 -
I am always cold. I suffer from an underactive thyroid and feeling cold is one of the symptoms. However, my condition is treated with medication and supposedly I should feel like everyone else but that is not the case. I am well known amongst my family and friends for my hot house and always wearing layers so that in the unlikely event I am warm enough, I can take something off!0
