Isn't eating garlic supposed to help too?
Maybe a good spag bol with loads of garlic in it eaten the night before might help...of course it may also mean other peeps keep their distance too, lol.
What about investing in a pair of proper mountain climbers socks? Might be pricey but would last forever and if it means warm feet.....well I'd be happy to cough up if it were me.
Other than that what about a camping chair and old sleeping bag? Don't laugh...I know it sounds weird but I have seen parents who do this during tournament days in the winter.
Personally I do tend to think walking would be more helpful though, even once round the pitch would be of benefit.

becles, i,am always cold and i too stand for three hrs every sunday watching my son play football. i have noticed that when i use body oil ,i don't feel the cold as much , put it all over or just try it on your feet, it really does work. i also just found out that footballers put vaseline on their legs to keep warm. makes sense i suppose.0

Your going to laugh now but whenever I feel cold I put the Casper Slide on when I get in. Join in in the Casper Slide dance a couple of times and then you will soon get warm with all that hopping. I won the Casper Slide competition too on holiday because I'd practiced it so many times

It's not cold enough, according to the men of the house. One of them is still running round in nothing but his pants  half the time, DH is not yet in a cardigan, and the chap who pays the bills is only wearing one threadbare jumper rather than 3.Ellie2758 wrote:Savvy Sue, why arent you allowed the heating on yet?????!!!
To be fair, today I'm only wearing a short-sleeved silk shirt and a cardigan,* and I'm just about OK. I may need the wheatbags when I come to watch TV tonight. When I start wearing my dressing gown (it's bright pink, chaps!) over several layers of clothes to watch TV and I'm still shivering I'll probably be told "You could always turn the heating on, you know!"
* Edited to add that obviously I'm entirely decent in the lower regions as well!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
:rotfl: Well we can tell whose side you're on Ted!Ted_Hutchinson wrote:Surely you haven't got the heating on yet. Far too early. Put another jumper on, get out your vests and longjohns first.
Another suggestion for the OP: when I was cycling, I bought a thin black balaclava from a motorbike shop and wore it under my helmet. Ace for keeping the drafts out from round your neck, can also be pulled up over your nose, and thin enough to put another hat on top. (Just don't try walking into a bank without taking it off ...)Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Oh yes, I do the two hot water bottle thing as well. Plus have electric blanket AND hot water bottle in bed. Even in the summer it was very rare I didnt take HWB to bed!!
Last winter I took to wearing 2 hats outdoors. A warm thermal type that covered my ears and a smart M&S one over the top. Also, one of those neck-warmer type things round my neck. Thermal from Millets.
brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Hate winter.

remember to wear a hat....most of your body heat is lost that way.
Baths are good for me when i get cold.
Ahhhhhhhh a good soak and a cuppa!!!0 -
I can sympathise completely,as I am a reynauds sufferer.I have the extreme sensitivity
to cold, and feel quite ill after getting thoroughly cold and take ages to warm up,the white ,numb fingers and toes and extremely painful hands and feet.
I sometimes think I seem like a wimp ,but until they've have experienced it,people don't understand.
Apart from the various hand warmers and other sound advice already given,I start my 'winter regime' about this time of year;
I take ginko biloba tablets, available in health shops, supermarkets and chemists and one unit of alcohol a day throughout the winter.I was a bit cynical about it when it was first recommended to me,but I really have found that it helps!
Doesn't remove the symptoms, but definately makes a difference. Not at all unpleasant either!
Another suggestion which I haven't seen posted yet is to take advantage of warm hand driers in the loos if you can.Have a quick warm-up if there is one nearby!0 -

Seredin was used in the trial and that's a high strength GinkoBiloba capsule Holland & Barrett, larger Tesco stores, independent chemists and health stores in boxes of 30 tablets at £9.99 and 120 tablets at £26.99. so a big saving from Zipvit if they work for you.

I too feel the cold terribly.
It turned out I was suffering from hypothyrodism. This is one of the symptoms. I have been on medication for around 6 months and it has just been increased. I hope this winter will be better but as yet, I have got the radiators on already.
Today has been a fine sunny day. I have been out walking with two female companions. They were just wearing sweaters. I had a thick cotton jumper, a woollen jumper and a fleece. They were too warm and I was just about OK. I'm just a sad case.0
