We were in Sharm in May for our honeymoon and have to say we had no problems in our hotel at all! But loads of other people had horror stories!
Anti-bacterial gel or hand spray is a must especially when handling money, when you eat only eat at resturants associated with a hotel and always order food well done. Our hotel had 3 resturants (5 star hotel) and I'd have no problem with eating salad there, we also went on 2 excurtions where we ate the food offered for lunch with no ill effects - just make sure it's well cooked and piping hot before you eat it.
Buy lots of bottled water - make sure you drink several litres each day as it's stiflingly hot out there and very easy to get heatstroke so invest in a widebrimmed hat too. Oh and suntan lotion and after sun - bring it with you - it AIN'T cheap out there!!! Ditto wine from the duty free as wine out there is VERY expensive and quite frankly... rubbish :)
