cidergirl, thats really awful for you. Have to say i got a bit twitchy when i had nearly £200 on my card and couldn't buy what i wanted in store. I was struggling so i bought stuff to ebay ( ) to recoup my money IYSWIM and got what i wanted elsewhere. I now only have 1400 points on my card and sleep easier in my bed
What do you find are the best things to buy in order to resell on eBay?0 -
we have lived here for 12 years all im gonna say is u lot spend ur points dont lose them ive done nothing wrong but they say they are there property and they can withdraw you at anytime and unfortunately u lose ur points
Have you checked your profile on the advantage card bit of the .com website ? It is easy to see which clubs you are a member of. If you are not showing on there as a a member of parenting club I would ask Boots to prove what you are doing wrong . Is the address a block of flats or another easily confused address? Is there more than one card registered at the address ?0 -

I'm pretty sure I've seen a place in the account info where you can cancel being in PC. But I wonder if it would make them look more closely at your account if you did cancel????0 -
Has anyone ever took back a mascara?
I bought a L'Oreal mascara worth £9 because it says on the box that it's special for sensitive eyes. Of course when I tryed it my eyes become red and itchy (and they are not so sensitive, I use No 7 and it's ok)
Went back to the store and the SA was really mean: "you have to decide what you buy... not come back with beauty products, we don't to refunds or exchange on cosmetics." I understood that's the policy... but could it be said a little nicer... like sorry, but we are not allowe to refund... and so on.... Anyway it was a special situation, I haven't just got back to exchange something becuse I changed my mind, it was the product that wasn't what the box said.
Yes, I took back Dream Lash mascara because it caused stinging. It was no problem. Since your SA was nasty, I'd call customer service. They may give you points back, or they may tell you to return the mascara -- in which case, make sure you get a referral number, as the SA at the store will want this to verify you got approval to return mascara.0 -
is it normal that they take back your points if they think you have too many?? :O
i was going to save them all and then use them in the january sales for next years birthdays/christmas/etc - im always skint is jan and thought this would be a great way of getting my shopping fix0 -

I just called cs and they said to send the product to them by post, they will send it to L'Oreal to see whats wrong... I give up anyway. £9 lost .
(I'm off to holiday for 3 weeks so wanted to buy something that I will use, but all this with sending by post seems like to much trouble.
(if anyone knows how to speak to cs teach me.... or call them for me :A . I'm really nervous about this.)0 -
edit -what i had to say has now been included in the next post0

That is insane! How can they act like it's so odd that anyone could possibly have a reaction to their product? A small percentage of people could have a bad reaction to just about anything. Heck, Bruce Lee died from an aspirin!
Sorry it didn't work out. If you're not feeling totally defeated, you could try calling Revlon CS. But it may not be worth the annoyance for you at this point.0 -
So sorry to hear that! It's frightening to hear about points being revoked, too! Since they said three people were in PC and they weren't, I would call back and fight it. I mean, 500 pounds is worth fighting for. Then if you get the points back, I'd go right out and buy digital cameras or expensive straighteners or iPods (if you're near one of the few stores that stock them). You can keep these, sell them on eBay or save for Christmas. Then I'd either give up Bootsing, or never save more than 10 quid in points!
I generally spend points when I hit 15 or 20 pounds (except the time I saved for a camera); now I'm at nearly 60 pounds and feel nervous -- there's nothing I need right now to blow them on! I would like a couple of Elizabeth Arden things, but I want to wait for a bonus gift time. Hmm, maybe I will just blow some after all, then stop working so hard to get them.
i was saving for a camcorder but havent been well enouugh to travel to the nearest one that sold them ive had problems with my leg and am seeing the specialist on thursday my 5 kids will miss out now was also gonna get a shaver for my son0 -

ok, obviously im not a lawyer, this is just my take on the situation...
they are in breach on contract under the sale of goods act 1979(i think) which i think basically means all goods sold have to be fit for purpose, ie if you buy a waterproof tent and you get wet you can have a refund.
so i would stand my ground and say you have been in contact with trading standards/consumer direct mention the fact they are in breach of contract etc and push for the refund - if they stand their ground then write/email in, there is template letters on consumer direct that might help you
good luck - hopefully someone more clued up on the law might be along to help you as this is just what i can remember from a previous situation i had0
