    Tis true! If you don't eat enough calories your body thinks it's starving and therefore holds onto it's energy reserves.

    You should try WW for a couple of weeks or buy/borrow the books off someone. You'll be amazed at the amount you can eat. Especially compared to what you are eating!

    How do you function?! I'd be starving and very grouchy ;)

    Back to the basic principle - if you don't eat enough, your body STORES whatever you eat. It thinks you are in danger of starving.

    Eat a little more (of the right things) and your body will release more of the energy from the food which you then burn off more efficiently.

    Honestly. I promise you. My sister refused to eat more than 700 calories a day for years. Yes she was skinny, but she had to have a BLOOD TRANSFUSION because it made her so ill. She;s done her insides permanent damage :(

    Please don't think starving yourself is the answer. I promise that the addition of a few tasty veggies to a meal isn't going to hurt you.

    The only time recently when I've lost weight was at Glastonbury festival - I was on my feet for 6 days (was also working on Security there) and couldn't find any tofu to eat, so I was literally just on oranges and bananas. I lost about 2 inches round my middle.

    I never feel hungry though, and I'm full of energy - people I work with laugh at me because I can't stand still without doing a little twirl or a dance!

    I'm going to see a consultant of some sort because, although I know I'm not eating enough, I've never heard of anyone who lost weight by increasing their calorie-intake. So I'm not going to do so without guidance.

    You're absolutely right. But I PROMISE you, it's true ;);)

    You lost weight at Glastonbury because it was the shock of very restricted calories and water loss (I expect). Longer term loss requires a greater intake of calories - not millions, but more.

    I'm finding it myself. It was easy to lose that 2 stone, and then I thought I was doing so well that I regularly skipped meals and didn't eat much at all. Wrong thing to do - I stopped losing. I've eaten more this past week than I have in the previous fortnight, and lost 4lbs!

    I HATE all the diet propoganda we've been fed over the past 50 years. It's bred such unhealthy relationships with food :mad: :mad:

    I do hate when people say this!

    My sister lives on cheesy pizza and lager, and drives to her corner shop, yet enjoys a size 8. I live on Tofu and spinach, walk 3.7 miles twice a day, and struggle to maintain a size 12.

    But she probably isn't very healthy, goodness knows what her cholesterol level could be!

    I had to lose just over a stone at Christmas, WW is fab, could carry on what I wanted to eat, but just smaller portions, I have now changed how I feel about food and am back to a 10/12 and I am very confident it will stay off. Strict diets may work short-term but the majority of people, the weight will go back on - its a lifestyle change you need with your eating habits, not a strict diet.

    I can't diet - I think the word diet just gives a mental block!

    Hence the healthy eating. I've tried lots of things, and anything to regimented or strict just makes me rebel. Maybe that says more about me though :confused: ??!

    Have to agree with pp that the rubbish information we have been fed over the years has led many people to have a distorted image of food.

    Let me start by saying I am a Cambridge Diet Counsellor. I became a Counsellor after losing 5 1/2st because I know how much the diet can change your life. I start by telling people that the diet is the easy part, if you go back to eating what you eat in the quantities you eat it you will put the weight back on (for the same reasons as it went on in the first place).

    The diet is, on sole source, 100% nutritionally complete. You will lose weight quickly, but because of the way the diet is formulated it is a healthy way to lose it (most diets make you miss out on an element of your nutrition, Cambridge does not) Some people do end up with excess skin, some don't. Personally I do not have any excess skin at all, for those that do the majority say they would rather have a bit of excess skin than be so overweight that they could have health issues associated with obesity.

    I hope this gives people a bit more of an insite into the Cambridge Diet.

    1) Can you do it as a vegan? (What are the "food" options?)

    2) Does the "diet" include working out a long-term food plan after the weight loss?

    3) How long have you kept your weight off, and what have you needed to do to maintain your new figure?

    4) Would it still be as effective for a person who doesn't overeat (like me, who undereats)?

    Well done on the weight loss! How long have you kept it off? Do u have any info on success rates for this diet? How many people have kept the weight off after 5 years?

    Which is why, for me personally, WW worked. Doesn't tell you what you can or can't have. You get so many points allocated to you a day, depending on weight, age etc...and each food and drink has a points score. So its completely up to you what you have. Thats why it worked for me. I don't do regimented either!
