    hi everyone :hello:

I've had a look at my finance sheet, and there are a few of our cards which we in the middle of putting on 0% interest cards at the moment, so I'm wanting to concentrate my efforts on something with a massive interest rate.

DH has a capital one card, with a £200 limit, which is currently over the limit by £66.35. I know that compared to alot of peoples aims it's a really tiny amount, but taking into account the amount of spare money we have each month and the fact that I am trying so hard to clear my other debts as well in order for me and DH to leave our 2nd jobs next year- it's a really realistic target for me to aim for.

I hope no one minds me changing my target- only my priorities have changed since getting 2 interest free cards to do some balance transfers, and I want to aim for something realistic for myself so that I stay focused and actually get it paid off in time for Santa coming.

well done for getting the 0% cards noggin, not an easy thing to do at the moment! i definatly think you should change your target to the card that is over its limit, that way you wont face charges on it.

Garnettgirl, dont worry about not making your target, its only a number and anything extra you overpay will be a bonus to your debt busting

thanks lunar, was worried people would think i was cheating by having such a low target :o has to be something realistic though or ill loose interest cos ill not get anywhere with it! :rotfl:

we were shocked at the cards as well, couldnt believe it when we were accepted

glad though, we really need to hammer some debt to have a chance of leaving our 2nd jobs, which we are so desperate to do :o

Paid £10 off today, have also joined the payment a day challenge and added the same debt in as I felt like I wasnt getting anywhere. Will be saving something each day and paying in once a week. Hope no-one minds the same debt being attached to 2 different challenges :)

    Hi everyone,
just popped on for some advice...
I've got a catalogue and lately my min payment have gone through the roof. They used to be around £50 quid but this months is £171 for a balance of £2700(ish). I rang and asked why and she couldnt really answer me, all she said was if i couldn't manage to make payments they would have to freeze my acc. Anyway my bank has offered me a loan that would clear my catlogue and my visa. Its over 5yrs but i can make overpayments without charge. Basically my monthly outgoings would be reduced by about £120 quid (we would be just breaking even then) but i could be stuck with loan for 5yrs! Another thing my OH may be getting layed off work, only for a few wks, but it would totally screw up our budget and will probably have to resort to using visa to live off again something i dont want to do).
Hope my rambling makes sense. Any advice welcome. Cheers

    :hello:

I am just updating as we received our 0% cards this weekend. I am going to put DH's Cap 1 card on to his interest free card before I start making my extra payments.

I will get DH to do this within the next week, then can crack on with making my payments.

    Hi Nickynoo,

I'm afraid I don't have any useful advice for you. Wouldn't know where to start. If you start off a separate thread with your query you will probably get more advice from people. Good luck!
