I sent an invoice to a winning bidder with a postage amount of £5.00 - the address that came up was in France, so this was what I worked it out to be (using the Royal Mail website)

I got an email (not via Ebay) yesterday as follows:

Hello there
I have received your invoice for this ebay item which I have no intention of paying in its current form.
You cannot just make up some excesssive postage charge.
I made no request for international despatch and even if I had the cost to send a single dvd to europe is 70p therefore your listed postage charge would have been more than satisfactory.
In the circumstances I would like you to send the item 2nd class to

Now I was a bit surprised by this - afterall, I only sent it based on the information given to me by Ebay, I responded as follows:

Dear XXXX

I am terribly sorry that you are unhappy with the invoice sent to you, in Ebay's email confirming you as the winning bidder, the address that shown was one in France, I sent the invoice based on this - I had no way of knowing this was not a correct (I will forward a copy to you for your records).

As it appears that Ebay do not have the correct contact details for you, I would advise contacting them to update your address, I will then gladly re-issue the invoice.

Do you think this is an adequate enough response - naturally with the new rules, I'm worried that he'll neg me?

Oh dear, I've just noticed a couple of mistakes in my email, hope they're not picked up on!!

If they are paying with Paypal, you must send the item to the address which is on the Paypal payment, so if it is France, then France it is!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0
-
They haven't paid anything yet and want me to send to an address in the UK - which is fine, but it's not the address that came up on the invoice (which presumably should be the one on Paypal) - I'm worried that if I change the invoice and put a UK postage cost, and they then pay by Paypal with a French address, I'll be honour bound to send it at that price0
-
Sounds a bit sus. Sure they aren't using a hacked account?0

Whatever happens, send to the address given in Paypal. If that is a French address, and you specified post to UK only, you are under no obligation to complete the transaction.
Do not post to anything other than the verified Paypal address or you will not be covered.0 -

Don't forget to send trackable and bill them as such. Once someone starts playing silly-!!!!!!s, your chance of having to post here about the buyer claiming he didn't receive it shoots up.0

My original invoice was for International Recorded - hence why it was for so much!0

Yep, but stick to your guns. You just know after you issue the next invoice he's going to write back asking for normal 2nd class, not recorded

Don't forget to use an online trackable proof of delivery method of posting too - you won't get that for 70p wherever they want it sent to

..I have no intention of paying in its current form...
You may as well start the non paying bidder dispute now.
Sensible buyers will always enquire as to postage & packing cost before bidding where it is not otherwise specified, else have to accept the reasonable charge imposed."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
In his email (incidently it was sent directly to my email address, not via Ebay!), he said 2nd class (62p on my listing), so I'm sure he'd kick up a stink if I put Recorded Delivery on a new invoice!:rolleyes:0
