This is my new thing RF ~ they look fantastic :D

How do you get the blanket on the bottom layer to *roll over* like that (does that make sense?)

I have new neice/nephew due in November so think I will tackle the nappy one then finish off with pink/blue once they arrive. What do you put in the middle to keep them so straight and together?

    Thanks

Hi in the nmiddle I have a vest, scratch mitts, pair of socks, then once it is all in shape I put in 2 wooden dowels so that when it is in the post it all stays in shape .. at least I hope it doea, first 2 will be posted this weekend :)

Hi I have no idea ... All of my rolling over is at the back where it is out of sight lol ... (is that cheating?) I rolled up the blanket and muslin square to the height of the nappy and kept it stil quite long in length to wrap around the nappy, it appears to just sit nicely, I have to admit I haven't tried with a baby towel as yet although I do plan to. Love your nappy cake tig tag, I picked up some ducks last night to make up some different kind of napy cakes, similar to yours but completely different aswell if that makes any sense.

A friend of mine whose dog just had a birthday and she gave it a beautiful pink soft little blanket from Primark (don't ask :rotfl:) which I assumed was really a baby blanket which might be nice for the bottom layer of a cake?

My daughter has 7 of these blankets :rotfl:I bought one because they were so soft and now it is the only blanket she will use, albeit she doesn't mind which one of the 7 she has aslong as it is that material lol They are indeed a good price at around £3-£4 each :)

    they are lovely rusty!!

i sell cards, i could sell them for £4 per card, however, only a handful of people would buy them. I sell them for £2 and they sell like hotcakes. Everyone said I undersell myself, but I:
    (a) find cheap but quality suppliers

    (b) win on some and slightly lose on others (some may cost me £1.80, some may cost me 50p)

    (c) keeping my prices low has maintained peoples interest and affordability

I suggest if the cakes cost you £10-£15 to make then perhaps charge £15. Buy in bulk and cut your costs if they become popular....

I would probably buy one for £15, as it would be more hassle than its worth to try and make it for this. If it was £20...I'd probably try and make it myself! Personal opinion there by the way, i think your nappy cakes are lovely.

Jamtart, I completely understand what you are saying ... I have broken down all of the costs involved and now do several different prices and styles for these cakes :)
To be honest I could never make home made cards as I am rubbish with things like that, however i will always buy home made cards :)

Thanks Kizzy, if you need any help give me a shout :)

Today is the big day ... the lady in the local craft shop has one of my nappy cakes on her stall at a craft fair, so hopefully I will get a couple of orders from there aswell :)

Name has now been sorted thanks to the good people on MSE
