Meter Registration Service ???!!!

We just got scammed by these guys (CUR) too, but fortunately we don't have easy access to the meters here so we haven't given them the meter number. I've phoned both ScottishPower and Opus Energy and explained the situation, and I'm currently hoping that without a meter number they're a bit stuffed as far as actually getting the contract moved. Am I right? Either way, if they call back they'll be getting an earful from me.0

Been getting calls almost daily from this company since I moved premises in December. They have been giving the usual crap about us being on an emergency tariff and we MUST supply them with the meter details. I knew from the outset it was all bogus, but my gullible staff have almost fallen for it before I stepped in.
The problem I am having is that I am hard-of-hearing and cannot use the telephone, so I employ staff to take calls for me. However the meter registration sharks still insist on speaking to me and won't take our explanation for an answer. To be honest it is starting to grate a little now because it is almost as though they are accusing me of lying about having a disability.
Part of me wonders if I would have some kind of a legal discrimination case against them if I could just ensnare them somehow and record some calls. Would be nice to take these prats down once and for all.0 -
Do what I do when you get a call from someone you don't want to speak to, hang up

Im on the same boat. These guys from Commercial Power have done my head in 2 weeks.
I opened the shop and had 1st call.. I had no idea who these ppl were so as per request i gave them meter ref no and told them to register me with BG... I did verbal recording
This week i received call from them again telling me that credit check has failed by BG and now i need to re-register with another supplier. I have been telling them to phone me later later but they don't stop phoning.
All they tell me is that im on emergency tariff and i will get heavy bill bla bla bla crap.
How can i find out if im now with British Gas as per my 1st conversation?
She will phone me tomorrow and i know what to say this time...:rotfl:0 -
I found this thread after yet another call from one of these companies.
We moved business premises at the end of last year and we are plagued with calls from Meter Registration, Commercial Connections, etc etc. No matter what we say to them they keep calling. I have told them repeatedly that we have continued with the existing supplier and that there is no such thing as having to register your meter. Total and utter nonsense full stop. Plus the fact they are tying up my customer sales telephone line...
All I can suggest to people is that if you take over some premises, look at who the existing supplier is (the landlord will know), phone them up and get a quote for supply. You can then phone around other electricity/gas suppliers and get them to quote aswell. it takes time, but you could save yourself some money.
By the way I have been answering the telephone in a small business environment for more than 20 years and I have never agreed to anything verbally over the phone. If you want to proceed with anything be it utilities, advertising or whatever - get it in writing first, read it at your leisure and then make a decision.0 -

Thanks People! this is really helpful. We have been plagued with calls like these since November and despite requests for help from our supplier (E-on) and constant promises to update their records from the individuals from Commercial power who call up we are still being bombarded.
Calls have just started in a similar nature regarding the telephone lines too.

Hi,In regards to the above post, you really should do more research before you post things like this as it can be damaging to peoples businesses.
Meter Registration Service Ltd is the same people as Benjamin Dexter Ltd, fact.
How ever at the bottom of the page you have given name of Commercial Registrations Ltd yet the company number you provided comes up as Benjamin Dexter Ltd!
They are totally different companies! The telephone number beginning in 01204 is neither Benjamin Dexter or Commercial Registrations Ltd, it is CUR Ltd. Again, this is a totally different company based in Bolton.
As for the 0161 number you have provided, this is Commercial Registrations Ltd. Unfortunately for them, when CUR Ltd don't get the deal they abuse the customer and tell people they are Commercial Registrations Ltd which in turn gives Commercial Registrations a bad name.
It wasn't hard for customers to find Commercial Registrations as they were at the top of Google.I have dealt with Commercial Registrations as I am in the same line of business and I can confirm they are nothing like CUR Ltd, Benjamin Dexter or even Commercial Power! Why would they leave there number when abusing people?!?!0 -

We only moved our telephone from one building to another which seems to have been enough to trigger several cold callers. One of these was Josh from "Commercial Energy" who wanted to register our meter and had some story about working for all power companies and had we not had paperwork from our supplier? I was suspicious, said I had never heard of needing to register a meter and asked him what service he was offering and was he trying to take over our supply which he denied. I think he realised I was suspicious because he said he would get duplicate paperwork sent to us from our power company but we have heard nothing since. Sounds like the same lot in a different disguise. Hope no-one falls for this.
