Redsquirrel's 'Striving For Better Days' Diary

Just having a look at the stuff for this interview tomorrow... really not sure my heart is in this at all, do I really want another job sitting in front of a computer looking at spreadsheets etc? I do wonder if I'm putting too much weight on getting a 'good job'.. as if my life will suddenly be magically better if I do.. possibly it would, if I was doing something I loved.. I'm just not sure this is it!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Now *there's* a character - isn't she lovely !!!!
About your job, redsquirrel - no, it isn't magic. Is it ten per cent better, tho, or ten per cent more money, or easier travel, or something like that? If it is, then its worth doing, other things being equal. For the magic, you need something different. It starts with a cat on your lap....2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
omg how bloomin gorjuss!!
hi to you too red! x
i thought you were going for a completly diff job, one you would like to do
why are you going for this one, more money?I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
It's a bit different but still admin/ finance type stuff.. bit more money (extra £2-3k a year to start).. slightly more responsibility.. slightly harder to get to. I really just want more of a challenge, as a lot of the time I'm bored and not busy enough. I'm going to go to the interview and see what happens but even if I get it, I have this feeling that I'll be bored quickly again - is there such a thing as a job that doesn't get repetitive? Guess that's the nature of them.. ho hum!
I do suspect that the 'magic' is more likely to be found in the things (like dance classes, meeting people) that I keep putting off doing...
Another cat would be lovely too, can you imagine how quickly I fell in love when I 'met' her.. those little fluffy peachy bits... awwww!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Dance classes, people = using your creativity = magic! Human style - cats don't need to do anything to get the magic.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

All my qualifications are in not very useful arty things like music, english and philosophy. Didn't want to go down the academic route as I didn't like the competitive environment.. I would quite like to do some teaching one day (maybe adult literacy) but I don't think I've got the confidence for that. I do like the 'problem solving' side of admin and trying to make things work better.. any inspiration anyone?
I hope you do get to do what you want - paramedic would be very challenging but very rewarding!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

You are right of course - about the means to an end - I think the boring job would be more bearable if I had more going on outside it.
Right, you lot are going to have to nag me until I do something about it!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0
